YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Food These ready-made veggie bases turn pizza into one of your five-a-day By You Magazine - July 11, 2018 If you’ve ever used Pinterest, you’ll probably already know that you can turn vegetables into pizza. Recipes for the perfect cauliflower or courgette pizza crust have popped up all over the internet, claiming to be quick, easy and healthy. However, if you’ve ever attempted to actually make one yourself, you’ll know that the process is not as straightforward as you might think. In fact, by the time you’ve blitzed, squeezed, bound and rolled your ingredients into a passable ‘dough’, you’ve (probably) burned enough calories to indulge in a regular pizza anyway. Magioni It’s for this reason that we’re so excited about the launch of Magioni, a ready-made plant-based pizza base that’s arriving in UK supermarkets this month. The principle behind the crusts is simple – more veggies + less flour = a healthier pizza for all, without the hassle of making your own base from scratch. The brand already has a cult following in its native Holland, where it sells 13,000 tasty bases a day. Magioni ‘We are so proud to have helped Holland to eat an extra 250 million grams of veggies last year,’ says the brand’s founder, Manon van Essen. ‘Now we’re excited for our small brand of young foodies to come to the UK and provide an option for anyone who doesn’t want to choose between healthy eating and one of the nation’s favourite foods.’ Magioni Magioni vegetable pizza bases come in two varieties, cauliflower and courgette, both of which count as one of your five-a-day. And if you want to give them a try, you don’t have long to wait. Packs of two bases will be available from 18th July at Waitrose, priced £3.29, with a range of topped pizzas to follow this September. So that’s carbs and calories, a serving of veg, all with that same great cheesy taste. Now, who’s for a margherita?
