In fact, it has been her go-to hairstyle ever since she stepped into the limelight and joined the royal family. However, eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the Duchess of Sussex has traded in her usual tousled version for a sleeker look ever since giving birth to baby Archie – and according to a hair expert, there could be a specific reason behind Meghan’s ‘new’ look. Getty Images Celebrity hairstylist James Johnson has explained that the sleek bun is actually a protective style which can prevent hair from getting damaged post-pregnancy. This is necessary because women tend to experience fragile locks or even mild levels of hair loss after giving birth. Speaking to FEMAIL, Johnson said: ‘When you’re pregnant your hair cycle stops so you don’t shed any hair, so when you give birth, all the hair you should have lost in the nine months falls out over a quick period.’ He continued: ‘Meghan may have opted for a scraped back bun to prevent her hair from further damage. It’s also a quick hairstyle and perfect for hot weather. If her hair was damaged during pregnancy, putting her hair up will prevent it from further damage.’ Getty Images Clever, right? Meghan has worn her hair in a slick low bun four times since her pregnancy including her look at Trooping the Colour, her Wimbledon visit with sister-in-law Kate last week, Archie’s christening photos and of course, her latest outing with Prince Harry at The Lion King premiere. Naturally, she looked gorgeous at every occasion and her polished hairstyle certainly added to that – though we have to say, the stylish duchess can do no wrong when it comes to both her wardrobe and her glam in our eyes anyway. So whether its a messy bun or a slick bun, we’re here for it!
