Getty Images The survey was conducted by the website, Ranker, which asked the general public to vote for their favourite type. Participants weren’t to make their decision lightly. They were asked to carefully consider the chip’s size, texture, flavour, crispness, and even their packaging before submitting their final choice. The competition page reads: ‘How do you rank the greatest chip of all time? Do you go by dip-ability? Or the flavour of the chip by itself? Do you go by the size of the chip? Do healthy chips make better chips? All these very important questions could have mind boggling answers that shake the very foundations of science, snacking, and reality!’ Intense, huh? Perhaps surprisingly in this day and age, not one of the top 20 most popular crisps were of the organic, natural, artisanal variety, instead each were straight-up greasy and delicious – the type you’d devour a whole bag of in front of the TV. Old-school Cheetos proved the most popular as they scored top place, with that irresistible cheesey, cornmeal crunch. In second place were Cool Ranch Doritos (a good choice, in our opinion) and then ready-salted Lays, the American version of Walkers, in third place. Shockingly not a single flavour of Walkers crisps even made the top 20. UK favourites Original Pringles and Pringles Sour Cream and Onion did however make an appearance in six and seventh place respectively. Below is the full list of crisp winners, ranked from 1 to 20, do you agree with the rankings?
