YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Life This is the first place Brits want to visit when lockdown lifts By You Magazine - May 6, 2020 Admit it – you’re increasingly spending more time each day dreaming about what exactly you’re going to do first when the lockdown is lifted and life begins to resume to normal (whatever that will look like). Don’t worry, us too. It’s been a while since life as we knew it got turned upside down (and inside out and back to front), so it’s no wonder that new research has revealed Brits are spending an average of 20 minutes a day dreaming about post-lockdown life. We’re only surprised it’s not significantly higher, to be honest. Getty Images Now a survey of 2,000 UK adults by Hyundai has determined the top 10 attractions people are most looking forward to visiting first once social isolation rules are relaxed and we can move about more freely. And taking the top spot is a National Trust park or property. With hundreds of historical locations across the country boasting beautiful gardens, stunning listed houses and breathtaking vistas, it’s not hard to see why this took the number one spot on the list. The survey also found that 73 per cent of people have found a new appreciation for nature during lockdown thanks to our government-sanctioned daily outdoor exercise allowance, so there could be a rise in new National Trust memberships once the restrictions begin to ease. Getty Images Taking second place is the Natural History Museum, with the Science Museum and National Gallery also featuring in the top 10, meaning us Brits must be missing the wealth of culture our country normally has to offer. Blackpool Pleasure Beach came third and Brighton Pier seventh, which suggests people are perhaps planning some staycations to make up for cancelled summer holidays. Getty Images The survey also looked at what is the first thing people want to do after lockdown, and, unsurprisingly, a visit to a much-loved relative topped the list, followed by a bite to eat at a restaurant or cafe, a drink in the pub and an appointment at the hairdressers. We couldn’t agree more. The research also discovered that we’re a nation of beach-lovers, with 17 per cent looking forward to visiting a beach – surfer’s paradise Fistral Beach in Cornwall came out trumps, with Bournemouth, Brighton, Perranporth and Blackpool following closely behind.
