How about meeting queen of baking Mary Berry? Well, at Cath Kidston’s upcoming celebration, you can do both, as on Sunday 1st July they’re trying to break the world record for the largest ever cream tea party – and we bet you can guess who’s hosting… The British brand, which celebrated its 25th anniversary earlier this year, is putting on a party at London’s stunning Alexandra Palace, and inviting members of the public to sign up to help them break the Guinness World Records title. Former Great British Bake Off host Mary will be there to join the fun, and there’ll be scones, clotted cream and of course, cups of tea galore. Cath Kidston ‘Ally Pally, as it is lovingly known, houses beautiful architecture and boasts gorgeous views of London – just a couple of the reasons we decided to host our event there,’ they said of the incredible venue. The current title of the world’s largest cream tea party was achieved in Shanghai, China, on 14 June 2016. An impressive 735 participants took part, in honour of the Queen’s 90th Birthday, but the team at Cath Kidston think they can go even bigger and better. If you join them, you’ll leave the event with your very own shiny Guinness World Records medal. Cath Kidston Tickets for the tea party cost £10, 100 per cent of which will go to the brand’s chosen charity, Friends of the Elderly (FOTE). The organisation gives older people the opportunity to leave fulfilled lives through exceptional levels of support, with homes that provide residential, dementia, nursing and respite care. So, a day out with delicious treats and a celebrity guest, all for a good cause? We’re sold. If you are too, you can find full details and confirm your place by visiting cathkidston.com/tea-party.
