But in true British spirit, many of us banded together and kept busy, staying positive and fine-tuning new skills. Creativity was perhaps at its peak during the first six months of 2020, with the average Brit trying their hand at everything from puzzling to sewing, language-learning to nail art. And some of us missed our local pubs so much that we even got creative with designing at-home bars, resulting in a number of impressive makeshift joints. If you’re one of the people who decided to create your own tavern while waiting out the virus, Aldi is looking to reward your hard work. The supermarket is searching for the best DIY bar, and is willing to gift one lucky builder an impressive £1000 in Aldi vouchers with their latest Facebook competition. The contest, which is being judged by Estate agent Sadie Jones and interior designer Nick Threadgold, who created The Stagger Inn at their home in Cheshire during lockdown, are looking for something unique, quirky, and inventive. ‘We’re very excited to be partnering with Aldi on this search for the UK’s best at-home bar,’ said Sadie. ‘We were missing our favourite pubs, but since we decided to build our own, we’ve not looked back. It was such a fun and creative project and it’s an affordable way to enjoy our favourite drinks at home – we’re thrilled with the result.’ Getty Images If you think your home-made bar could have what it takes, all you need to do is ‘like’ Aldi’s Facebook post, hashtag #AldisBarHunt and share a photo of your creation. Entries opened on 7th July, and will be accepted for a fortnight, until 21st July. The post, which read the following, has already racked up over 6,000 likes: ‘Hands up if you’ve made your very own Backyard Boozer? Whether you’ve transformed old garden sheds or created a bar using a bookshelf, we want to see your handiwork!
