The time has been particularly exciting for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who have been involved in garden projects, royal tours, and first days of school. But it seems that the work is never done for these two, who are apparently set to make a series of big announcements over the Christmas period, involving plans for the upcoming year. Omid Scobie, Royal Editor at Large for Harper’s Bazaar US, told ABC’s Heirpod that big things are coming: ‘Expect royal announcements over the holidays, which I think is a slight break away from tradition,’ he said. BBC/Shine TV Ltd/Kensington Palace/Matt Porteous ‘There was a briefing at Kensington Palace just this week where they gave us a number of new announcements that will be coming out over the holiday period. It’s a smart decision, it’s a quiet time of the year. It is a great time to announce things.’ In terms of what we can expect, there will be news of ‘a new initiative from Prince William, and some other news as well,’ particularly in relation to Kate. ‘Next year is a big one for Kate,’ said Scobie. ‘She is going to be really focused on her early years development. That is something she has been involved in for a long time now.’ 2019 saw Kate design a ‘back to nature’ style garden, which encouraged children to have fun and learn outside, so it sounds as though her plans for 2020 will take natural progression from this. Getty Images The correspondent finished up by summarising the following: ‘It has all been bitty for anyone who follows this. Apparently 2020 is a year when it is all tied together. So, yes, a busy year for them.’ This all sounds seriously exciting, and we can hardly wait to hear what the new year brings for Kate, William, George, Charlotte and Louis, as well as the wider royal family.
