"Freaks and Geeks is the best coming-of-age show. It's only one season so it's so easy to watch but it's just got so much depth and the characters are all great." – scofield922. 2 Sing Street Likely Story Watch on: Netflix USA, UK, and more. "This movie is almost too perfect. An outcast teen pretends to be in a band to impress a model, then realises he actually has to make a band in order to keep up the charade. It's the cutest story of friendship, love, and saying 'fuck you' to authority. Plus the music is incredible." – Cassie Freeman via Facebook 3 One Day at a Time Netflix Watch on: Netflix Worldwide "I started watching it randomly, but I was hooked from the first episode! It's hilarious and fun. There are also a couple episodes that deal with real issues, but it isn't done with an overly dramatic feel... It just feels real and well done. I highly recommend it!" – Felicia Gauthier 4 Only Fools and Horses BBC One Watch on: Netflix UK "Nothing puts a warm Sunday afternoon smile on my face like a bit of Only Fools and Horses. You can't help but love Rodney and Del Boy." – arodker 5 Cuban Fury Film4 Watch on: Netflix UK, Isle of Man, Jersey, and South Korea. "Stars Nick Frost as a former ballroom dancer who rediscovers his passion for dancing when he meets a girl. Funny and sweet movie, and has Nick Frost busting a move! What's better than that??!!! Also stars Rashida Jones, Olivia Coleman, and Chris O'Dowd." – laurenf5 6 Dirk Gently s Holistic Detective Agency BBC America Watch on: Netflix Worldwide (excluding USA) "A really lighthearted detective show – think if Psych was on drugs and mixed in with a little bit of sci-fi. It's absolutely hilarious. I don't think I've ever laughed harder at a TV show. The acting is spectacular, the plot is great, there's so many twists and turns, and the script is fantastic. All around, an extremely underrated show." – allyerose5267 7 Chef Fairview Entertainment Watch on: Netflix UK, Dominican Republic, Cuba, and more. "Jon Favreau gets a food truck and drives around the states with his kid and John Leguizamo making Cubanos. It never fails to put a smile on my face and get me into the kitchen attempting to cook something that vaguely resembles food." – ethantbale 8 Brooklyn Nine-Nine Fox Watch on: Netflix UK, Spain, Germany, and more. "Super hilarious, wholesome, and has a great and diverse cast." – squiddlord 9 Arrested Development Fox Watch on: Netflix USA, UK, Canada, and more. "It's so joke-heavy there is no way it can't cheer you up." – akw04 10 Eddie the Eagle 20th Century Fox Watch on: Netflix UK "Nothing is ever going to beat Eddie The Eagle when it comes to feel-good movies!" – FeedMeSomeLove 11 Young & Hungry ABC Watch on: Netflix USA "Young & Hungry is my go-to guilty pleasure. It's hilarious with just the right amount of drama to keep things interesting and give it a plot. It's like a more adult version of when Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel were in their prime." – Nubia Jade Brice via Facebook 12 After the Ball Freestyle Releasing Watch on: Netflix USA, India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. "Cute little version of Cinderella, except with feminism and gender-swapping. Oh, and it's set in the fashion industry and it's hilarious." – whovian2525 13 Grace and Frankie Netflix Watch on: Netflix Worldwide "It's about two old broads being fabulous. It starts out with their husbands of 40 years leaving them for each other and both ladies can't stand one another but soon they become best friends. It's really freaking funny and deals with aspects of ageing many people seem to not care about at all. Also, it has Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Sam Waterston, and Martin Sheen. Like damn, that cast!" – fabfourdarling 14 Mamma Mia Universal Pictures Watch on: Netflix UK, United Arab Emirates, and more. "I’ve just seen Mamma Mia with my mom for the second time. I think it it fits the category of light-hearted movies perfectly." – milenacortez 15 The Little Prince Netflix Watch on: Netflix UK, USA, and more. "It's one of my favourite books and they did such a good job with the movie. They took it in a different direction than the book but it works. All the characters are good and the music is awesome!" – tawwnyy4 16 Happy Wadi Rum Productions Watch on: Netflix France, Portugal, Argentina, and more. "It's a documentary about happiness that spans the entire world and interviews everyone from rickshaw drivers in Calcutta to leading positive psychologists. It always puts me in a better mood and inspires me to find more happiness in my own life." – katyt423a04660 17 The Great British Bake Off BBC One / Love Productions Watch on: Netflix USA, American Samoa, and Guam. "This is such a feel-good, fairytale-like show. There's no fights and all the contestants are so sweet in general and to each other. You'll instantly fall in love with the hosts' corny jokes. They film in this greenhouse-like building and you can see beautiful meadows from the windows as the bakers bake delicious British baked goods. "Sometimes a contestant will have a complete meltdown but the judges and fellow contestants will rally around them. They even show shots of sheep playing in the field. You'll smile the whole time you're watching. It will captivate you and inspire you. I guarantee you'll binge this show hard." – jennicas4c4bf0545 18 Detectorists BBC Four Watch on: Netflix UK "It's a sleepy comedy about people who go metal detecting, and while not hilarious it gives you a good chuckle and you warm to the characters immediately. Nothing terrible ever happens, nothing makes you cringe in vicarious embarrassment (if, like me, that happens to you a lot when watching comedies). And to top it off it has a beautiful soundtrack by Johnny Flynn." – RowanBerry 19 Master of None Netflix Watch on: Netflix Worldwide "It's so funny, smart, and real. The writing is 10/10, and it's so beautifully shot. Tbh the second season is one of the best things I've ever watched. Master of None is a masterpiece." – zainaba48616c770 20 Terrace House Fuji Television Watch on: Netflix Canada, UK, USA, and more. "It's a Japanese reality show about six strangers living in a house together that Netflix picked up, and it's chill and typically light-hearted (barring some minor romance drama) and calm with a great cast and hilarious judging panel! I watch to relax and unwind as it's just nice and lighthearted without the American reality show drama!" – providencei 21 Atypical Netflix Watch on: Netflix Worldwide "Brand new to Netflix and such an easy watch. About an 18-year-old with autism who just wants to experience the world like everyone else. There's a lot of humour spread out through the show even in the more serious scenes, and even those aren't all that serious – just everyday life problems." – Rebecca McCaffrey via Facebook 22 Charmed The WB Watch on: Netflix USA "Whenever I'm feeling down or missing home I watch that show." – Anna Dragonetti via Facebook 23 RuPaul s Drag Race Logo TV Watch on: Netflix UK, Canada, South Africa, and more. "RuPaul's Drag Race has gotten me through many sad days. How can you not be happy watching shady, beautiful drag queens!?" – belikeaudrey Submissions have been edited for length and/or clarity.
