So here s a list of things I genuinely believe most of us fake appreciation for solely because it s Christmas 1 Christmas pudding Diana Miller / Getty Images/Image Source / Via Getty I have yet to meet a single person who genuinely eats this and enjoys it year after year. I'm not a fan of fruit in any of my desserts, but a Christmas pudding takes it to the next level. 2 Mince pies Sven Hansche / Getty Images/EyeEm / Via Getty Just like a Christmas pudding, a mince pie is full of currents that DO NOT belong! You can dress it up with cream all day long, but I usually just put mine straight in the bin. 3 Dates Arx0nt / Getty Images / Via Getty I've had these a few times, and I find it extremely hard to believe people go out of their way to buy these as a treat They're sticky, grainy, and aren't an acceptable replacement for something sweet. 4 Mulled wine or cider Anna Blazhuk / Getty Images / Via Getty Wine is one of the absolute last drinks I would choose to drink, so I guess I'm a bit biased there. But heating it up and sticking some spices in it to drink as if it's the most delicious thing to ever exist? I personally can't get on board with it, and I can't believe that anyone else can either. Please tell me I'm not alone when I say it shouldn't be sold or consumed any time of year let alone during the festive period? 6 Cranberry sauce Westend61 / Getty Images/Westend61 / Via Getty Cranberries add a pop of colour to your dinner plate, but does anyone actually enjoy eating them? Sometimes the sauce is too sweet, sometimes it's too bitter, and to be completely honest, making them into a sauce doesn't mean it should go on meat. Stick to mint sauce, and you're golden. Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF NBC 7 Apple sauce Brycia James / Getty Images / Via Getty Much like cranberry sauce, apple sauce is a big no-no in my book. I prefer to chew my fruit, so mushing it up and putting it in a jar to serve on meat doesn't sit right with me. Perfect for baby food though! 8 Everything mint flavoured Liliboas / Getty Images / Via Getty I'm not against an occasional minty treat, but why oh why does everything become mint flavoured this time of year? Peppermint chocolate, mint hot chocolate, peppermint popcorn, and candy canes galore! Don't tell me you actually enjoy mint creams??? 9 Eggnog Lauripatterson / Getty Images / Via Getty A drink with the word "egg" in it sounds anything but appetising. It might be tradition, but I wouldn't be mad about it if we cut it out of the Christmas period altogether. 10 Plain nuts La Bicicleta Vermella / Getty Images / Via Getty We've all seen the assortment of nuts sold in the little red nets in supermarkets, and their existence honestly baffles me. They're completely boring! I'm sure you can jazz them up but I don't see the point when you can buy flavoured nuts anyway. Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF NBC 11 Honey glazed ham Gmvozd / Getty Images / Via Getty It's overly salty, the colour is unappetising, and the name alone makes me grimace. I think we should skip this part of the holidays and eat something else, all in favour say "I". 12 Cheeseboards Westend61 / Getty Images/Westend61 / Via Getty This is controversial, I know, but I just don't like that many kinds of cheese. What is the obsession with brie, and WHY do we have to buy cheese that smells like mouldy trainers after a five-day hike? Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Amazon Studios 13 Assorted chocolates Feifei Cui-paoluzzo / Getty Images / Via Getty Who doesn't like chocolate? We all do, until you get down to the chocolate creams, the coconut flavour, and any with nuts in – then the whole box becomes useless. It would be far safer to buy your favourite bar of chocolate and enjoy the whole thing. 14 Dried fruit Katesmirnova / Getty Images/iStockphoto / Via Getty Prunes, sultanas, raisins, dried apricots, even oranges! These scream Christmas, and yet they're HORRIBLE. Their texture is all wrong, and they are the worst part of the fruit – all flesh and no juice. You'd be hard pushed to convince me people actually go out and buy these to snack on. 15 Yule log Marilyna / Getty Images/iStockphoto / Via Getty Let's be honest, it's just a chocolate sponge. There are so many better puddings out there. Admit it, if it wasn't a Christmas tradition you wouldn't eat it. 16 Pigs in blanket Sgaphoto / Getty Images/iStockphoto / Via Getty Don't hate me, but these are sub-par at best. Homemade are a little better but either way, after a couple they turn into a porky mess. The bacon is always slightly burnt, and the sausage always has a funny taste, so to the bin they go. 17 Deviled eggs Bhofack2 / Getty Images/iStockphoto / Via Getty Aren't these just seasoned eggs? Who wants to snack on eggs? I have so many questions... Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF ABC 18 Fruit cake Westend61 / Getty Images/Westend61 / Via Getty For the last time, fruit does not belong in desserts! There's no decadence, there's no indulgence, and to be completely honest, there's no enjoyment in this cake. This is what the neighbours buy you as a gift and it gets left until it turns rock solid– nobody eats it!!! Maybe I m wrong and I m just a fussy eater Or maybe you completely agree and we can all finally stop pretending Let me know your thoughts in the comments below Share This ArticleFacebook PinterestTwitterMailLink TastyGet all the best Tasty recipes in your inbox!
