YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Food Think you don’ t like gin Nigella Lawson says this brand made her a convert By You Magazine - June 19, 2018 Gone are the says when a bottle of Gordon’s London Dry was all we reached for when mixing up a G&T. Today we’re all connoisseurs, clued up on our artisan distilleries and botanic blends – and we’re always keen for a new recommendation. Who better than kitchen queen Nigella Lawson? Posting on Instagram, she shared a snap of her gin of choice – Isle Of Harris. She credits the gin with converting her to the spirit, so if you’ve been a gin refusenik until now, it’s worth a taste of this tipple. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Nigella (@nigellalawson) Distilled in Talbert, Scotland the producers use a small copper gin still they call ‘The Dottach’ (named after a feisty local woman!). The maritime botanicals include the intriguing sugar kelp (also known as Devil’s apron), which they say add ‘coastal notes’ to the blend, and is sustainably hand-harvested by a local diver from the underwater forests of the Outer Hebrides. Expect aromas of rose, pine needles, bitter orange, coriande and gooseberry, followed by tastes of mango and grapefruit, and a black pepper finish. Yum. MORE: 9 of the best flavoured gins to try this summer The pretty glass bottle – which initially caught Nigella’s eye – is ribbed and rippled to look like the seas of Luskentyre (you can buy a matching tumbler, too). A 70cl bottle of the Isle of Harris gin costs £37. They also sell sugar kelp aromatic water in a little dropper bottle (£20) so you can boost the seaside taste in your G&T, or add it to other spirits: they suggest a few drops in a dram of whisky. Cheers!
