YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Fashion This 50s dress style could be set to make a major comeback By You Magazine - February 22, 2019 The midi is undoubtedly the length du jour – but looking at the A/W 19 catwalks, hemlines could soon be going higher and more gathered, with the return of the bubble dress. Bubble dress hemlines as seen at the Simone Rocha show during London Fashion Week at the Royal Academy of Arts. Richard Quinn’s voluminous designs were set off with floral print. But the modern reinventions show that the look can be styled in a multitude of ways, from flirty and feminine to subtle and chic. JW Anderson’s caped design on the runway. Burberry’s black off-the-shoulder bubble, however, was given a harder edge with oversized earrings and leather accessories, and JW Anderson’s drop-waist, olive green polka-dot version, meanwhile, gave another fun twist altogether. Burberry’s A/W 19 catwalk also featured a more discreet take on bubble hems. Image: Getty Images While it has yet to filter down to the high street just yet, there’s plenty of time for shops to recreate budget versions of the billowing bubbles before autumn arrives. Whether or not you want to wear them this time around, however, is entirely a matter of personal preference… One of Pierre Cardin’s bubble designs in the 1950s.
