YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Fashion Small brand spotlight Mood Good By You Magazine - April 6, 2021 Every week, we’re shining a spotlight on the best small brands we think are worth shouting about. We love our great British high street, but there are so many fantastic independent brands out there making clothes, accessories, homewares and more from a place of passion and love and we need to support them – now more than ever. From fashion and beauty to homeware and accessories, we’ll be bringing you the best small businesses you need on your radar. This week, we chat to Rosie Greener, jewellery designer and founder of her brand Mood Good. Instagram/@moodgoodjewellery How did Mood Good come about? After graduating with a degree in jewellery design, I jumped straight into the commercial side of the industry, designing jewellery for brands such as Topshop, Topman and Skinnydip. It was fast paced and exciting and I learnt so much, but after a few years I began to crave a slower and more thoughtful design and production process. I began to work on my own designs and pieces in my spare time. As time went on, I started to dream about the pieces and brand that I could create, and I thought there was no harm in giving it a shot! I settled on the name Mood Good because it encapsulates the positivity and light heartedness that I want the brand to evoke. What three words would you use to describe Mood Good? Thoughtful, optimistic, timeless. Who is the Mood Good woman? They are someone who looks on the bright side of life and is thoughtful about the things they surround themselves with. They appreciate good quality and design, purchasing things to love and wear forever, rather than for just one season. I try to look away from current trends and instead focus on vintage jewellery, nature, old graphics, illustrations and art. I also find the English language very inspiring; classic metaphors, idioms and sayings have inspired previous Mood Good pieces, such as ‘Lion Heart’, ‘Smiling Inside’, ‘Every Cloud has a Silver Lining’ and ‘Happy Tears’. Talk us through your design and making process. I use a 3D drawing software to design Mood Good pieces in my Hackney home studio. This can be quite a lengthy and time-consuming process, depending on the intricacy of the piece. Once it has been perfected and I am 100 per cent happy with the prototype (I am a perfectionist so this can take some time), it’s handed over to my London-based workshops to be put into production – I work with several different small workshops around the city. The final stage is that the pieces come back to me, are given a final little polish, packaged up and sent off to their happy new home! Mood Good jewellery is made from recycled metals and the pieces are all produced ethically in small batches in London. Local production has always been very important to me as it not only supports other small businesses, but also means that I can have a relationship with those making the jewellery and have the peace of mind that they come from a positive place. Within the design and making process, there’s an emphasis on creating timeless pieces that will be cherished forever and each piece comes with a Care Card to give the wearer all the information needed to make this a reality. Which Mood Good piece is your current favourite? I am currently obsessed with the Daisy Signet Ring! It took me so long to perfect the shape and I am so happy with how it turned out. It’s simple and wearable but cheerful, which I love. It also has the hidden message ‘Always Growing’ engraved on the inside, which I think is a sweet reminder to carry around every day. Anything exciting planned for the brand this year? Yes, I am so excited for this year. I am so looking forward to being able to do IRL pop-up shops and events again, to see people trying on the jewellery and meet them face to face. There are also a couple of exciting collaborations with other creatives on the horizon, which I cannot wait for. I just feel so much excitement for the future of Mood Good and to watch it continue to grow and develop. Watch this space!
