Photograph: Getty Images Featuring some hidden gems across the country and coastline from Somerset to Yorkshire, these quaint UK seaside destination have all seen a huge spike in interest on Airbnb with people searching for rental properties this summer. Airbnb‘s Amanda Cupples said ‘There’s nothing quite like the smell of fish and chips and the sound of seagulls to transport you straight into holiday mode, and this past year has seen a real resurgence of the great British seaside holiday. And it’s not just the familiar summer stalwarts that are feeling the love; this hotlist shows that Brits are exploring lesser-known destinations and favouring well-loved gems as a means of escape this summer.’ Portishead. Photograph: Getty Images Taking the top spot is the village of Sandgate in Kent after the destination saw the biggest increase in holidaymakers searching for rentals in the area. In second and third place was Ingoldsmells and Sandilands respectively, both in Lincolnshire.
