YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Food Aldi has brought back its 28oz Godfather Steak for Father’ s Day By You Magazine - June 16, 2021 It’s universally known that dads and father figures are difficult to buy for. Whether it’s a birthday, Christmas or Father’s Day, it can feel like a struggle to find anything good that’s not socks or a new tie. Luckily, supermarkets have got the food side of things covered this year. In the same week that M&S announced it had brought back its Big Daddy Bar for Father’s Day, Aldi also revealed the return of its iconic Godfather steak. Aldi The huge 28oz (794g) Godfather Steak follows last year’s popular Big Daddy Steak from Aldi. This Father’s Day, dads can tuck into the hefty piece of meat for just £7.99. It’s perfect for a well-priced family dinner to celebrate! Oh, but it gets better. There are a selection of side dishes on offer for dad’s special day, including Chunky Oven Chips for £1.99 and Large Beer Battered Onion Rings for £1.49. Aldi is bringing out some brand new food items, too. You’ll find a 1kg Tomahawk Steak for £13.49 on shelves this week, as well as Specially Selected Wagyu Topside Beef Slices that come in at a purse-friendly £2.49. Aldi Aldi hasn’t forgotten about dessert, either. They have a Father’s Day Giant Cookie Kit for just £1.69, which is already available in-stores after one was released earlier in the year for Mother’s Day. Shoppers can find the Godfather steak, as well as other Father’s Day treats, in Aldi stores from 17 June. Just in time for the weekend! If these epic steaks take your fancy but you’re not sure how to cook them, Aldi has teamed up with celebrity chef and Culinary Director of Gaucho Restaurants, Mike Reid, to provide some tips on cooking the perfect steak. Aldi Mike Reid’ s tips for cooking steak ‘I would always recommend cooking a steak such as Aldi’s Godfather Rump over fire – the combination of wood and coal gives a unique, smoky flavour to meat,’ says Mike. You should always take meat out of the fridge at least half an hour before cooking so it cooks evenly. The general rule, Mike says, is ‘the higher the fat content the higher the initial heat you cook it on’. Don’t forget to let the steak rest after it’s been cooked so that the juices are absorbed and it’s tender. You should rest the meat for at least half the time it took to cook.
