Also, no straight guys in my school would've been caught dead on the cheerleading team, but I LOVE that these guys did it! 2 REAL — homecoming Amazon Prime I can confirm that the awkwardness of the homecoming dance in Episode 1 checks out. Fun story: A few of my friends actually got suspended for showing up drunk to our homecoming (reminder, the US drinking age is 21). 3 NOT REAL — the principal Sony Pictures Releasing / Amazon Prime My principals were always really nice! The whole sitting-proper thing — "Sit up straight, legs closed", and so on — seems more like a British headteacher than American principal, no? 4 REAL — the interiors Amazon Prime Lovestruck High looks just like my school on the inside! The classrooms, hallways, the gym are all spot on, but I’ve never seen an American school exterior look so grand! 5 NOT REAL — school lunches Amazon Prime Sadly, my school never had lunch tables outside; they were only in the cafeteria. I don't think anyone was allowed to go outside during lunch, actually, but strangely, my friends and I used to sit on the ground in the hallway instead of at a table. Literally no idea why! 6 REAL — the outfits Amazon Prime I would've rocked so many of these outfits, but this is missing some Abercrombie & Fitch vibes...I was a popped-collar kind of guy myself. 7 NOT REAL — Alex as a nerd Amazon Prime I love that they're trying to play him as a nerd, but in my school, he'd definitely be the most popular. A preppy jock = alpha in my high school. Can you tell I have a bit of a crush? 8 REAL — locker convos Amazon Prime Oh, the chat leaning on the lockers TAKES ME BACK! Especially with the one backpack strap hanging off their shoulders — that was me for real! 9 NOT REAL — the openness of queer people Amazon Prime I wish I was this confident about my sexuality in high school. Great to see some amazing queer representation across the LGBT spectrum. I think I only knew one out person in school, to be honest, but maybe things are different now!
