YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity EMOTIONAL TIES Liz Earle on gut feelings and gold stars By You Magazine - March 13, 2018 Natural beauty and wellbeing guru Liz Earle shares her most important items, from accessories to essential oils… Louise Haywood-Schiefer My husband Patrick gave me this gold and diamond starfish necklace for my 50th birthday four years ago. It’s from the Geronimo Jones jewellery collections he designs, based on his travels. He has always said I’m a bit of a star. Louise Haywood-Schiefer Kim Buckland, my former business partner, gave me this vase for my birthday last year. She has developed a wonderful habit of giving me a vase every year because she knows how much I love having flowers in the house, even if it’s just foliage from the garden in winter. Louise Haywood-Schiefer I bought this little Shaker box at The Met Museum in New York almost 30 years ago. I use it to store my essential oils, which I dip into every day. I admire its craftsmanship and the way it has stood the test of time. Louise Haywood-Schiefer My mother Ann, now in her 70s, made me this lavender cushion with a bird on it (her nickname for me) for Christmas years ago. She’s brought me up with a love for crafting, from fine cell work to crochet. She’s nifty with a needle. I keep it in my knicker drawer and it makes me smile every time I see it. Louise Haywood-Schiefer Patrick [who is also a photographer] bought me this scarf years ago on a trip to Africa where he works regularly – we also have a house in Kenya. It’s perfect for brightening up a black poloneck. Louise Haywood-Schiefer I bought this silver box at an antiques fair after my youngest was born. It sits on my dressing table. The five cherubs remind me of my five children, aged from seven to mid-20s. I’ve found motherhood more relaxing and enjoyable as they’ve all grown older. They keep me mentally agile! Louise Haywood-Schiefer The Vital Oils book sums up so much of my life because it was my first; I was 27 years old and delivered the manuscript as I went into labour. I’ve always loved busting myths – at the time, the big thing was no-fat diets but I knew it was wrong because some essential fatty acids are good. For me, beauty and wellbeing go together. It’s about what we put in our bodies and what we put on our faces and bodies. Louise Haywood-Schiefer I’m slightly evangelical about Nourish Kefir, which I now drink every day because it’s helped me to feel so much better. My skin glows, I have more energy and I feel better inside. I came across it while I was researching my recent book The Good Gut Guide. I start to crave it when I don’t have it. Louise Haywood-Schiefer I’m never without Tisserand lavender oil – it’s so multitasking. I put it on my pillow for sleep or in the bath to destress; it’s great for burns, scrapes or bruises and works so quickly, mixed with body cream, on sunburn. For me it’s happiness in a bottle.
