And to celebrate the beginning of filming on the next instalment of the franchise Pottermore just released a whole load of new information about the upcoming movies Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Warner Bros. So here s what we know so far 1 The movies timeline began in 1926 and will end in 1945 J.K. Rowling @jk_rowling Our story starts in 1926 and ends in 1945. It's just too big to fit in one movie! https://t.co/fb5GOGvTxq 10:30 AM - 21 Nov 2016 Reply Retweet Favorite Though it is not exactly 100% confirmed yet, it would be really weird if this didn't mean that the last movie is going to deal with the legendary duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, who was captured by the American wizarding authorities at the end of the first movie. 2 Jude Law has been cast to play a young Dumbledore Frederick M. A few months ago, Pottermore revealed that Jude Law will appear in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts movies as Dumbledore in his younger days as Transfiguration teacher at Hogwarts. Director David Yates said the actor "will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life". 3 And the next film will see Dumbledore teaming up with Newt Scamander to take down Grindelwald and his supporters Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Warner Bros. According to new info from Pottermore, the beginning of the next film will see Grindelwald "make a dramatic escape" from the American wizarding authorities, and Dumbledore will join the effort to stop him. 4 Some much-loved characters from the first movie – including Tina Queenie and Jacob – will be returning Warner Bros. The end of the first movie may have seen Jacob's memory wiped, but Pottermore has confirmed that he'll be returning for the sequels, hopefully meaning he'll end up remembering everything and living happily ever after with Queenie. 5 And Ezra Miller s Credence will be back although not in the way you might expect Warner Bros. At the end of the first film, the Obscurus within Credence exploded and it seemed like he was pretty much a goner, but it's now been confirmed that the character will be back – although, according to Pottermore, in a "mysterious way". 6 The next movie will introduce a host of new characters and Zoe Kravitz will have a bigger role as Leta Lestrange Warner Bros. She made a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance in the first film, as a framed photograph in Newt's case, but we'll apparently learn more about Leta (and her relationship with Newt) in the upcoming films. 7 There s something to do with a wizarding circus Warner Bros. The film will star Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as the circus's owner, Skender, and The Avengers' Claudia Kim as one of the circus's "featured attractions". Whatever this means, it'll no doubt lead to hijinks. 8 The second film will be set in New York London and Paris Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Warner Bros. The ending of the last film saw Newt leaving New York on a boat and heading back home to the UK, but it's now been revealed that part of the film will also be set in Paris. 9 And it will contain some surprising nods to the Harry Potter series Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Warner Bros.
