YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity This is who Jenna Coleman wants as her replacement in Victoria By You Magazine - March 14, 2019 Fans of ITV’s popular period drama Victoria will know that Jenna Coleman does an excellent job playing a young Queen Victoria. But the actress has now confirmed that her role will be recast as her character ages. Jenna, who became the face of the show when it launched in 2016, returns to our TV screens for the third season of Victoria which will air on 25 March. She will then repirse her role for the last time in the following fourth season set to air in 2020 before the role is recast. But who will replace her? Rex Features Speaking to Radio Times, the actor said: ‘There’s going to come a point where I have to [be recast]. The idea I’ll be playing Victoria meeting Abdul is not really possible,’ referring to the late Queen’s special friendship with Indian attendant Abdul Karim – a relationship that was adapted into a movie in 2017 starring Judi Dench as Victoria and Ali Fazal as Abdul. ‘But it’s going to be a hard thing to give over, especially as she gets older,’ Jenna added. ‘[Recasting] brings a lot of challenges and it’s hard as an actor. When you’ve taken it so far it’s hard to give it up.’ Rex Features However, if she had it her way, Jenna knows a few women she wouldn’t mind having as her successor. ‘There’s lots of people. Helena Bonham Carter would be good, she’s busy right now,’ she said. ‘Olivia Colman was so good in The Favourite but she’s busy too. Emily Watson would be amazing, so would Imelda Staunton.’ We, for one, would be thrilled with any of those women. Though Helena and Olivia may be off the cards as both stars have joined the cast of Netflix’s hit royal drama, The Crown. Olivia has replaced Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II for the upcoming third season, while Helena has taken over from Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret.
