After meeting at the University of St Andrews, where William studied geography and Kate, art history, the pair dated for nine years before William proposed. And, minor blip with a brief separation in 2007 aside, they seem to have been a picture perfect couple throughout. According to Kate: A Biography, a book written in 2013 by Maria Moody, the duo lived in a state of ‘domestic bliss’, with Kate looking after ‘everything related to their home.’ Getty Images ‘[They] had spoken of marriage and they knew it was on the cards but it hadn’t been the right time, until now,’ the author detailed. ‘Unlike other royals before him, William employed no domestic staff and Kate took care of it all…’ ‘They both knew what was coming and knew that, although many good things would follow, it would also mean a life of increasing duty and less time to themselves.’ Getty Images William eventually got down on one knee during a holiday in Kenya in October 2010, using his late mother Diana’s sapphire ring as ‘a way of making sure [she] didn’t miss out on the excitement.’ The couple then tied the knot on 29 April 2011, in a stunning ceremony watched by 23 million people around the world, and their happily ever after didn’t end there. They’ve since welcomed three adorable little ones – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – and are set to celebrate their eight wedding anniversary next month. Aww!
