YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Fashion Will this be 2022 s biggest engagement ring trend By Sophie Hines - January 17, 2022 While traditional solitaire or three-stone engagement rings have been popular for years, there’s a new design on the scene – and this look has got a very romantic sentiment behind it. In fact, it’s been tipped as the biggest engagement ring trend for 2022. The ‘toi et moi’ two-stone engagement ring – translated from the French ‘you and me- allows two stones to sit alongside each other, representing each partner in the couple. You’ll find this concept either extremely adorable or a bit sick-making, depending on your attitude to all things lovey-dovey, but it certainly looks set to be popular, with celebrities spearheading the trend. It was designed by British jeweller Stephen Webster. The emerald and diamond are ‘set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love’, he explained in an Instagram post. Emily Ratajkowski is another famous face to have received a toi et moi ring, with square and pear-shaped diamonds sitting alongside each other. When she got engaged to Sebastian Bear-Mcclard he originally proposed with a paperclip fashioned into a ring, before Emily collaborated with an American jewellery designer to create her upgraded version, which is estimated to cost around £90,000. However, the toi and moi ring is in fact a very classic style, which became famous in 1796 when Napoleon Bonaparte proposed to Josephine de Beauharnais with one. While traditionally, the rings would feature two different stones cut to the same size, now designers are playing around with stones of different shapes and sizes sitting alongside each other, creating a more modern look. Two massive rocks instead of one? We’ll take it.
