We know it’s not all about size, quality over quantity and all that, but there’s something quite exciting about an extra-large version of our favourite snacks, don’t you think? Aldi has now jumped on the massive snack bandwagon by releasing a foot-long sushi roll. The super-long sushi has been launched to celebrate the beginning of the Olympics in Tokyo this year. The games were supposed to take place last year, but were cancelled because of – yep, you guessed it – the pandemic. Aldi Fans of the Japanese delicacy will be pleased to hear Aldi has packed two flavours into the foot-long sushi roll. One half is meaty, while the other is more traditional. The meaty side of the roll is filled with katsu chicken and topped with black sesame seeds and crispy onions. The other side is more suitable for pescatarians, filled with smoked salmon and sprinkled with mixed sesame seeds. Aldi announced the news on Instagram, writing: ‘What’s better than fresh sushi on a summer’s day? Considering the size of it and how expensive sushi can be from other outlets, the price is as impressive as the food itself. Aldi has warned shoppers that because the sushi roll is part of its Specialbuys, once it’s gone, it’s gone. So it’s best to be quick if you want to try it out.
