Trinny, how is your routine changing during this time of year? Many of us have got used to wearing a lot less makeup in lockdown but now is a great time to experiment, whether that is black eyeliner or a less-formal lip colour. As we enter spring and summer, good makeup starts with a glowy base too. The energy of spring should translate into the appearance of your skin and make you feel like your best self. How do you achieve a glowy base and healthy skin though? It’s about not using heavily pigmented matte products that won’t blend and won’t move anywhere. Instead, it’s about layering your products gently until you feel you have enough coverage that makes you feel comfortable but so that you can still see your skin glow underneath. How would you cover blemishes or sunspot though without wearing more product? I think the key here is using targeted coverage and buying products that blend seamlessly such as cream-based products as they are much more natural. Most importantly, choosing the right shade is crucial. Many of us tend to go over and over a ‘problem’ area because the shade is not right and use more and more product. Eventually, we end up covering our whole face. If you can get the correct shade from the outset, then you will only need to cover the blemish. I also love anything that is a quick fix right now, something that immediately makes me feel fresh and awake, but without having to do a full face of makeup. The number one mistake you can make then when trying to bring to life to dull, winter skin is to go too heavy on the bronzer and fake tan. Instead, introduce blushers in peaches, corals and pinks to brighten and highlight your complexion. There is something lovely about a pop of lightweight, creamy blush and applying it in a cream formula also means it will blend with your skin for a more natural-looking flush of colour.
