Getty However, one new product is causing quite the sensation among beauty lovers, and the great news is it only costs £11 (or £7.99 in Boots, where it’s currently on offer). Maybelline Colossal Curl Bounce mascara is a new launch that promises to do away with the need for eyelash curlers. This is because it has a “high-tech memory curl formula” – in other words, it has built-in curling capabilities that will lift and curl your lashes as well as darkening them. Maybelline Colossal Curl Bounce Mascara, £7.99 (was £11), Boots It all sounds a bit too good to be true, but the reason people are raving about the product is they’ve found it actually works. As well as being named the “Emma Radacanu of mascaras” by the Sunday Times Style, it has also garnered a lot of attention from beauty lovers on social media (including our very own Books Editor Natasha Poliszczuk, who sung it’s praises on Instagram). We tried it… Sophie Hines, Digital Editor It would take a lot to tear me away from a long-lasting love affair with my chosen mascara (Max Factor False Lash Effect, which beats anything I’ve tried at 10 times the price). However, after reading the amazing reviews of Maybelline’s new offering, I was keen to try it out, so popped down to Sainsbury’s where it’s available with £3 off – win! Above is a photo with the mascara on one eye, so you can compare to my natural lashes. I love the fact it’s not clumpy at all – it goes on very easily. It’s a high-impact black mascara which I like, having never really seen the point in going too subtle with my lashes. Here, on both eyes, I think you can see the curling effect even more. And it lasts! As I write, it’s over eight hours since I applied the mascara, and whereas many others would be hardly noticeable by now, I can still see that my lashes are lifted and defined. Possibly time to break up with my beloved Max Factor? I think there’s room in my heart for both. Alice Robertson, Beauty Assistant Full disclosure, I am a die-hard fan of Benefit’s Roller Lash – it’s the only mascara I’ve found that creates a noticeable curl to my lashes without using an eyelash curler, and I rarely sway from it. But it’s also £23.50, which at the rate I go through it can get quite expensive. BOY have I had my head turned. I tried Maybelline Colossal Curl Bounce Mascara without using an eyelash curler to really see what it could do and it genuinely has created a very uplifted fan to my lashes, so much so that when I asked my housemate if she could see anything different about me she commented on how lifted and curled they were. She used the word ‘whoosh’… Very impressed.
