YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity Richard Osman announces engagement to Doctor Who star By Kanika Banwait - May 23, 2022 Congratulations are in order for everyone’s favourite quiz show master Richard Osman, who has revealed he’s getting married to his partner Ingrid Oliver. In an interview with author Marian Keyes for The Guardian, the 51-year-old was asked if it was true he was getting married. ‘Yes, exciting, isn’t it?!’ Richard replied. Richard is thought to have first met Ingrid, 45, at a dinner party in the summer of 2020. The rumour mill starting churning out talk of an engagement last month when Ingrid was spotted with an emerald ring on her wedding finger. Getty Images Ingrid is best known for playing Petronella Osgood in Doctor Who. She is also one half of the comic double act, Watson and Oliver. This will be the first time Richard has been married, although he already shares two children, Ruby and Sonny, with his former partner. He’s previously opened up about his childhood and his own relationship with his dad, who left when Richard was 10. ‘When my partnership broke up, I did think, “Oh God, this is going to be awful.”… I’ve seen my kids nonstop. It was quickly worked out it wasn’t going to be the same, which is an extraordinary relief. They know I love them and I tell them nonstop, which bores them rigid. But I never got told that,’ he said to The Times. The happy news of Richard’s engagement comes just over a month after he announced he would be leaving BBC One quiz show Pointless to focus on writing. He hosted the show alongside Alexander Armstrong for 13 years. We’re not entirely surprised the TV presenter has chosen to concentrate on writing, as his books have been major hits. In fact, his first novel The Thursday Murder Club became the first ever debut novel from a writer to be crowned Christmas bestseller, in 2020.
