I was happy to find out that they do.’ GARETH SOUTHGATE Greg Williams The unlikely prankster During the 1998 World Cup, England players dared each other to slip song titles into their interviews. Gareth was one of the best, mentioning George Michael’s ‘Careless Whisper’ and Wham!’s ‘Club Tropicana’ when talking to the press. He showed off his self-deprecating humour by starring in a tongue-in-cheek ad for Pizza Hut alongside England stars Stuart Pearce and Chris Waddle, who’d also missed key penalties.
