I am fascinated by women who are strong but don’t hide their flaws. She forged her own path and is brutally honest about her mistakes My first boyfriend Adam and I went out for about nine months when I was 14, and he became one of my best friends. He wrote me these letters at 19 when he travelled the world for a year. Letter writing is such a lost art It took me a long time to figure out my style. I’m 40 this month and have discovered that simple cuts and classic shapes suit me. I have hundreds of pairs of shoes, but wear these Yves Saint Laurent stilettos most days. This YSL Lou camera bag is a great size – you can fit a book in it Labyrinth was the first film I saw in the cinema. I love it and have watched it with my daughters Lily, 12, and Olivia, eight, too. I buy anything Labyrinth-inspired, including this hand-sewn Etsy doll of David Bowie as Jareth and these Pop! vinyl characters I bought this picture on my first trip to Paris when I was 17. It’s a page from a 1950s French magazine by fashion illustrator René Gruau. Since then, I’ve become obsessed with vintage icons Dior J’Adore L’Or is a sweet scent that I find so nostalgic as it reminds me of my first fragrance, Aramis Tuscany Per Uomo, from when I was about 14. I often rave about it online and Dior sent me this engraved bottle as a gift I recently discovered that I’m a Virgo after an astrologer read my chart. I always thought I was a Leo as I’m on the cusp. When I saw this ring with its tiny diamond Virgo constellation in New York, I had to buy it. It makes sense to me now why I’m so analytical This photo of my siblings [Nic, now 36, and John and Jim, both 29] and I was taken in the pre-digital age when I was about 19. We’ve all gone on to have our own YouTube channels, but I love pictures like this because they captured the moment and were not polished – unlike social media today Nic and I travel a lot for work to promote our Real Techniques make-up brushes – we are stocked in 60 countries. I buy one of these Starbucks mugs wherever I go. I have 20 or 30, each from a different city I bought this Hermès Les Léopards scarf for the Hollywood Icons film that my younger sister Nic [who makes up the other half of Pixiwoo] and I shot for the BBC last year, in which we re-created legendary looks. We filmed in Jean Harlow’s open-top Packard, wrapped scarves round our heads and added sunglasses for a classic Hollywood vibe.
