YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Uncategorized YOU Beauty Box September’ s Editor’ s Picks 3rd Birthday Edit reviews By You Magazine - September 1, 2016 In this month’s ultimate Editor’s Pick edit (compiled by our very own YOU Editor Sue Peart, which also incidentally celebrates YOU Beauty Box’s 3rd birthday) our beauty insiders share their top picks and advice on what’s best for the new season ahead… Eyeko Black Magic Mascara As someone who buys mascara based solely on the brush, I was a little sceptical about this one as I usually opt for comb like brushes, but I was pleasantly surprised. The curved brush, with its full bristles, was perfect for adding volume, whilst increasing length and adding a little curl. Its staying power was also great; the mascara lasted all day without smudging and was actually quite tough to get off with eye makeup remover! Overall, a great addition for your make up bag. Brogan Wright Sanctuary Ultimate Cleansing Oil I have always been a fan of cleansing oils and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. Sanctuary’s Ultimate Cleansing Oil is the ultimate facial cleanser. I have quite open pores so ensuring that all my make-up is off at the end of the day is very important to me and with this I found that my make-up basically melted away. It removed all make up, including waterproof mascara and left my skin feeling completely clean and soft. Brogan Wright Sally Hansen Insta Dri Top Coat Lately I’m trying to avoid shellac and get my nails healthy again which means painting them, waiting for them to dry, accidentally smudging them and taking it all off! But this Sally Hansen top coat is the perfect solution! Not only does it protect your nails from chipping, it also helps your varnish dry in record timing. Dru Ryder Weleda – Skin Food A little goes a long way with this nourishing green tube. It’s quite thick thanks to the rich base of oils and beeswax; your skin will love you for it! This all-natural product has in fact been a favourite of celebs for some time now too – a timeless favourite some might say, so if ‘natural’ and ‘celeb favourite’ doesn’t tempt you then perhaps the fact that it is multi-purpose, can be used day and night and honestly shows results in 24 hours. I was first introduced to this little magic tube two years ago and it’s been a stable part of my skincare routine since. Charlotte Ashton Indeed Labs – nanoblur The name sort of suggests it, but this product, developed with optical xprism technology, is supposed to give your skin a naturally airbrushed effect. In other words, this ground-breaking formula changes the way light reflects off the skin, giving a smooth and matte appearance, softening fine lines and wrinkles. I was sceptical I can’t lie, but, good news as it’s actually brilliant! You also only need a little of this so put a pea-sized amount between your fingers and pat (don’t rub) onto your face. Charlotte Ashton THE HERO PROJECT – Hyasoft Instant Moisture Boost & Glow Drops Dry Touch Facial Oil + Vitamin C This is another British brand I hadn’t heard of before (we are always discovering new and exciting brands here at YBB!). Hyasoft, a clear, non-sticky gel, is packed with vitamin B5 and the well renowned hyaluronic acid. It penetrates the skin at different levels and is cleverly multi-tasking. Use it as a moisturiser on its own or just apply a bit under your day/night cream for added hydration. Your skin will thank you for it. This brings me to product number two, Glow Drops, which smells gorgeous because it’s packed with 10 scented natural essential oils and a heavy dose of vitamin C. I’m sticking with these two for now to see if they help my skin in the long-term. As the brand puts it, ‘Beauty on a mission’. Charlotte Ashton Malin + Goetz Vitamin E Face Moisturiser This is a power brand and I can see why it is endorsed by Sue in the “Editor’s Pick” Edit. A product straight out of New York it has risen to cult status in recent years and is an intensely hydrating daily-use moisturiser. I love that it is oil-free and absorbs instantly without residue. This is a generous-sized product for September’s shortlist and will last you ages as you only need a tiny amount each morning or night. Juliana Klutz philosophy take a deep breath oil-free oxygenating gel cream Philosophy is the epitome of a wellbeing beauty brand with feel-good scents and multi-tasking skin care. I’ve only used this oil-free oxygenating gel cream once and I’m already hooked. It’s uplifting and because of the rich texture it is the perfect primer for skin pre make-up application. Juliana Klutz Erno Laszlo ³Firmarine Hydrogel Mask² I am a face mask addict and, with two children running me ragged for the past 6 weeks, this effort from Erno Laszlo came at just the right time. It’s a gel mask that comes in two pieces and peels onto the skin like an actual sticky mask rather than liquid-type masks like clays. It contours the face when applied and delivers a concentrated shot of super strength ingredients to penetrate pores, remove toxins and leave the skin with an amazing and very revived glow. I was genuinely impressed and instantly looked a lot more rested than I felt! Holly Wadsworth-Hill Argan + Anti Age Hand Cream Intense and instant hydration with SPF 15 and skin tone evening effects – that’s what you get from this really luxurious hand cream from Argan +. This hand cream really surprised me by how deeply it seemed to infiltrate my skin – my hands felt totally nourished and looked really bright and refreshed after the very first use. I’ve never thought about using SPF on my hands before but it really does make sense, I will be keeping this one close to hand at all times (excuse the pun!). Holly Wadsworth-Hill Weleda Sensitive Skin Almond Body Lotion I am borderline obsessed with body lotion and slather myself in one thing or another on a daily basis because I hate the feeling of my skin being dry and tight. Weleda’s Sensitive Skin Almond Body Lotion is a potent thirst-quencher for all skin types – including sensitive. It includes organic almond oil to strengthen the skin’s own protective function and defends against exposure to the elements but, as well as all the clever stuff going on beneath the surface, it also leaves skin feeling amazingly soft and moisturised, without irritation. Holly Wadsworth-Hill PROPERCORN – Lightly Sea Salted or Sweet & Salty I’ve always been a big fan of popcorn, but not a fan of the calories. After being introduced to PROPERCORN they’re now undoubtedly my go-to popcorn brand. They built themselves on the belief that there shouldn’t be a compromise between health and taste. Using 100 per cent natural ingredients and with less than 60 calories per pack (less than 50 in the Salt flavour!), they are the perfect vice for a guilt-free snack. Not only are they delicious and low in calories, every flavour in their collection is gluten free- bonus!
