(@Dawn_French) April 19, 2020 Yes, it seems queen of comedy Dawn French will be reviving one of TV’s most beloved characters of all time with a special one-off skit for the Beebs The Big Night In television special, which has been devised in collaboration with Comic Relief and BBC Children in Need to raise much-needed funds for vulnerable people of all ages and backgrounds who have been badly affected by the coronavirus crisis. To confirm the news, both Comic Relief and BBC Children in Need took to social media with their own announcements of the much anticipated return of everyone’s favourite vicar. Comic Relief said: ‘Guess who’s back in the dog collar! @dawnfrenchofficial returns as the Vicar of Dibley for a one-off sketch for #TheBigNightIn with @bbccin… Last spotted self-isolating in the confectionery aisle, she’s back with an important message for us all ? ? Tune in to BBC One 7PM on Thurs 23rd April’. Lenny Henry will be presenting the evening of special programming and we can also expect appearances from the likes of Zoe Ball, Paddy McGuinness, Matt Baker, Davina McCall, Peter Kay, Catherine Tate and Gary Barlow, plus ‘a huge host of famous names yet to be announced.’ a BBC statement reads. ‘The star-studded show will feature musical acts, money can’t buy prizes, comedy sketches and lots more surprises on the night.’ ‘The Big Night In will celebrate the acts of kindness, humour and the spirit of hope and resilience that is keeping the nation going during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic with a special night of programming for BBC One. ‘This is the first time the BBC’s biggest charitable partners, BBC Children in Need and Comic Relief, have come together and the aim of the evening is to celebrate and reward those going the extra mile to support their communities in these troubled times.’ Well, we know where we’ll be on Thursday evening.
