Harry Potter fans you know who the Marauders are For those of you who don t basically they were four Gryffindor students who were BFFs and went to Hogwarts in the 1970s Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Warner Bros. Pictures The group included James Potter (Harry's dad, obvs), Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. For the longest time fans have craved a prequel film or TV series that would explore the lives of the Marauders primarily whilst at Hogwarts Unfortunately she-who-must-not-be-named has said she s unlikely to write a such series as she s not fond of prequels Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Warner Bros. Pictures This hasn t stopped fans passionately imagining what a prequel series would look like though In fact a fairly viral Fancast popped up on the internet a few years back Karwai Tang / WireImage/Taylor Hill/Steve Granitz/Pascal Le Segretain / Via Getty Images Fans hoped Aaron Taylor-Johnson would take on the role of James Potter, Andrew Garfield would play Remus, Jamie Bell would play Peter, Ben Barnes would play Sirius, Karen Gillan would play Lily, Timothée Chalamet would play Regulus Black, and Snape would be played by Adam Driver. It's a genius casting, but sometimes age ~isn't~ just a number. Since those actors are now too old to play teenagers I ve come up with a new cast for if there ever is a Marauders-centric spin-off I ve studied the texts and done my research and come up with a prospective list that includes essential and supporting characters Alright let s get into it 1 Kit Connor as James Potter Karwai Tang / WireImage/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 18 Where you've seen Kit before: Heartstopper, Rocketman Kit is leading man material for sure. He's adorable and he always gives a great performance, and although I'd be sad seeing him go from the lovely Nick Nelson to the smug James Potter, I'm sure he'd be able to deliver on it. He also wears spectacles pretty well! 2 Louis Partridge as Sirius Black Phillip Faraone/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 19 Where you've seen Louis before: Enola Holmes, Pistol, The Lost Girls Louis is a rising star with a ton of potential. He's played aristocrats and wayward punks, and I think he'd nail fan-favourite, Sirius. He has that whole brooding, handsome thing going on, let's be real. I think he'd have great chemistry with Kit too! 3 Louis Hynes as Remus Lupin Jamie McCarthy / WireImage/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 20 Where you've seen Louis before: A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Great I loved Louis as Klaus Baudelaire, and I think he could definitely play the lost and troubled Remus. He's also ripe for becoming involved in another beloved book-to-screen franchise! 4 Louis Ashbourne Serkis as Peter Pettigrew Dave J Hogan/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 20 Where you've seen Louis before: The Kid Who Would Be King, The Queen's Gambit, No Return I feel like it's never a good day when someone compares you to Wormtail, but this is a young, spritely Wormtail before he got corrupted and did his tenure as a rat! I could see Louis doing that role justice. Side note: the amount of Louis' in this cast so far is incidental. 5 Emily Carey as Lily Evans David M. Benett/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images for Dunhill Age: 19Where you've seen Emily before: House of the Dragon, Wonder Woman, Anastasia: Once Upon a Time So I know people love Lily Evans/Potter, and this part is an important one to get right, but I honestly believe Emily is a great shout. She's up-and-coming, she's a great actor, and she's beautiful! She might need to wear contacts and dye her hair, but that's what hair and makeup is for! 6 Earl Cave as Severus Snape Dave J Hogan/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 22 Where you've seen Earl before: Days of the Bagnold Summer, True History of the Kelly Gang, Alex Rider Okay, have you ever seen a more Snape-looking guy in your life? I mean that in the best way. Earl definitely has the look down, and if you've seen him act before, you know he also has the chops to play the complicated Severus Snape. 7 Ruby Stokes as Petunia Evans David M. Benett / WireImage/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 21 Where you've seen Ruby before: Bridgerton, Rocks, Lockwood & Co I have a feeling that in a series about the Marauders, Petunia Evans/Dursley is likely to make an appearance. I loved seeing what little we saw of Ruby in Bridgerton, and I want to see her step more into the limelight as the jealous and haughty Petunia – I think she'd act it so well! 8 Noah Jupe as Regulus Black John Shearer/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 17 Where you've seen Noah before: The Night Manager, Wonder, the A Quiet Place films Noah has already accomplished so much and he's only 17! As great an actor as he is, I think he'd be perfect for Regulus, Sirius's younger brother. Movie fans won't know much about Regulus except for the fact that he was a Death Eater who switched allegiances and sought to destoy one of Voldemort's horcruxes. I think Noah would be a great person to introduce us to more of this character, and I also think he looks like he could be related to Louis Partridge! 9 Araloyin Oshunremi as Kingsley Shacklebolt Karwai Tang / WireImage/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 18 Where you've seen Araloyin before: Top Boy, Heartstopper Kingsley implies in the original movies at one point that he was familiar with James and Remus; I'm inclined to believe he was at Hogwarts with them and that he'd be a part of this series. If you've seen Top Boy, you'll know Araloyin is a fantastic actor with the comedy chops to play Kingsley, the joker of the group. 10 Freya Allan as Patricia Rakepick Mike Marsland / WireImage / Getty Images/Jam City/Netmarble / Via Facebook: HPHogwartsMystery Age: 20 Where you've seen Freya before: The Witcher, Gunpowder Milkshake So by all accounts, Patricia was a Hogwarts student a couple years above the Marauders and was sort of like a mentor to them. She's said to have been an exceptional student, but a bit of a troublemaker; she later became a master Curse-Breaker and a Dark Witch. Patricia appears in the game Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery as the main antagonist. I think Freya would be a great Patricia, but she'd need to borrow some of Emily's hair dye for the part! 11 Bella Ramsey as Marlene McKinnon Dave J Hogan/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 18 Where you've seen Bella before: Game of Thrones, Judy, Catherine Called Birdy So we need to fill out this series a little bit – enter Marlene, a member of the original Order of the Phoenix! She's described by Hagrid once as one of the best witches of the age – that is before Voldemort wiped out her whole family. I feel like she would be a friend of Lily's in this prequel. Bella would be a great candidate for Marlene – she's even played a witch before in CBBC series The Worst Witch! 12 Bukky Bakray as Dorcas Meadowes David M. Benett/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 20 Where you've seen Bukky before: Rocks, You Don't Know Me Another character we could add to this series – perhaps as a BFF of Lily too – is Dorcas, an original Order member whose family was wiped out during the First Wizarding War. I think Bukky would be a perfect fit – she's a fantastic actor, and I think she'd really add something to this series! 13 Tamara Smart as Mary MacDonald Karwai Tang / WireImage/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 17 Where you've seen Tamara before: Resident Evil, Artemis Fowl, Are You Afraid of the Dark? Mary is a Hogwarts student who becomes the target of bullying by a student known as Mulciber – a nasty Slytherin (and later Death Eater) who was friends with Snape. Lily is said to have been upset that Mary was being harassed by Mulciber on account of her "mudblood" status. I think the incident – and the ensuing friendship between Mary and Lily – would be a really important plot point to see played out. I know Tamara would play Mary super well, and I'm also here for her The Worst Witch reunion with Bella! 14 Daniel Roche as Evan Rosier Mike Marsland / WireImage/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 22 Where you've seen Daniel before: Outnumbered, Just William Brits everywhere know Daniel as the rambunctious Ben Brockman in Outnumbered. He's been out of the acting game for a bit, and I think a Marauders series is the perfect project for him to return for! Evan Rosier is a well-known Death Eater in the later Harry Potter films, but in this prequel I think he'd be more of a Crabbe/Goyle type character to Snape's Draco-esque role. 15 Amir Wilson as Gaige Mulciber Jon Kopaloff / FilmMagic/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 18 Where you've seen Amir before: His Dark Materials, The Letter for the King, The Secret Garden So Mulciber is the "nasty slytherin" I mentioned before. I think he would roll with Snape and Evan Rosier in this series, but probably be the more sinister of the trio. Amir is a great actor, and I know he'd deliver on this role. I've given him the name first name Gaige because that's what this site did. In truth, Mulciber is a combination of several characters that reportedly made up Snape's Gang of Slytherins, including Wilkes, Avery, and Mulciber. 16 Emma Mackey as Bellatrix Black Pascal Le Segretain/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images For Louis Vuitton Age: 26 Where you've seen Emma before: Sex Education, Death on the Nile, Emily Being Sirius's cousin, I'm expecting Bellatrix to make an appearance at some point even though the two weren't at Hogwarts at the same time. I definitely want to see a young Bellatrix causing some chaos, and who better to play her than Emma? Not only does kind of she look like Helena Bonham Carter, but she's also very capable of playing a bad girl you can't take your eyes off type. 17 John Bradley as Rubeus Hagrid Matt Winkelmeyer/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 33 Where you've seen John before: Game of Thrones, Moonfall, The Railway Children Return Hagrid was made gamekeeper of Hogwarts in 1968, which is a few years before the Marauders started there. He'd be younger than in the Harry Potter series, but still a bit older as he was a student in the '40s with Voldemort. I think John could play the gentle giant with aplomb, but as you'd expect with Hagrid, he'll need some attention from the costume and makeup departments to get the proportions and look just right! 18 Tilda Swinton as Minerva McGonagall Mike Marsland / WireImage/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 61 Where you've seen Tilda before: We Need to Talk About Kevin, Orlando, The Chronicles of Narnia series. She might hate boarding schools – which Tilda once explained was her reasoning for turning down a role in the Harry Potter films – but I just think no one else could play a younger version of McGonagall like her! Not only is Tilda is FANTASTIC actor, she's also Scottish, and she's around the right age. McGonagall was James et al's Head of House, and I'd love to see Tilda keeping those boys in line! 19 Benedict Cumberbatch as Voldemort Tibrina Hobson/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images for SBIFF Age: 46 Where you've seen Benedict before: Sherlock, The Power of the Dog, the MCU I mean, Ralph Fiennes could probably reprise his role since Voldemort hardly looks human anyway, but if we DID want to opt for someone a little younger, I think Benedict is the way to go. He's a marvellous actor and he kind of has the face for it, if you know what I mean? I know he's busy with Marvel these days, but if he could also join the HP franchise as well, that would be great. 20 And finally Jared Harris as Albus Dumbledore Frazer Harrison/Warner Bros. Pictures / Via Getty Images Age: 60 Where you've seen Jared before: Chernobyl, The Crown, Mad Men Okay, bear with me on this one! It's hard to judge how much ~younger~ Dumbledore should look in the 1970s, but we want to age him down somewhat to show the passing of time later on. My suggestion is Jared, who I think is an INCREDIBLY underrated actor. He's distinguished, and between his acting and the costuming, I think he'd make a great old-young Dumbledore.
