YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Fashion The opening date for the Harrods outlet store at Westfield has been announced By You Magazine - June 25, 2020 In great shopping news, the world-renowned designer department store Harrods is set to open its first ever outlet store at London’s Westfield White City, with the opening date confirmed as next Friday, 3rd July. Just like all other non-essential shops, when lockdown started the iconic store had to stay closed, resulting in a pile up of stock needing to be shifted. The opening of this new outlet store will provide a space for Harrods to host its end-of-season sale in a safe and socially distanced environment. Getty Images From Burberry to Balmain, Gucci to Givenchy, Harrods is the place for designer shopping. Other than a few airport stores, Harrods has never had a retail presence outside of its famous Knightsbridge location, making the move a first for the brand. ‘We couldn’t really have a sale in the store,’ managing director Michael Ward told Business of Fashion. ‘That isn’t socially responsible for us to do. The question was: how could we protect customers; how could we protect staff?’ Harrods Their solution? Renting 80,000 square feet (a space which formerly housed Debenhams) for a limited time within the hugely popular West London shopping centre. The area will be able to be perfectly formatted for a socially distanced shopping experience, including three metre wide walkways – a must for keeping staff and customers safe. The store will be home to sale product from brands including Tom Ford, Chloe and Stella McCartney, with major bargains that are not to be missed. Getty Images The new concept store leaves the Knightsbridge Harrods store to focus on full priced new season products and collections. While only a temporary move for now, they haven’t ruled out the possibility of venturing into the world of outlets again in the future, granted all goes to plan. ‘We will have to see how this works out as we go towards Christmas, because obviously we will be faced with the same issue in January,’ explained Michael Ward.
