YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Fashion Sainsbury’ s sustainable period pants are proving a hit with women across the country By You Magazine - February 12, 2020 If there’s one thing we can all agree on as women, it is that there’s nothing particularly enjoyable about periods. Our hormones are flying around, we constantly feel uncomfortable and there’s nothing more annoying than having to go to and from the toilet all day long to change your sanitary products. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Love Luna (@loveluna.uk) But as well as being a complete nuisance, single-use products for periods can have damaging effects on the environment too. That’s why Sainsbury’s has launched a new campaign championing period knickers as a substitute for plastic-made sanitary options. The supermarket’s period pants have been created by Love Luna and seem to already be a huge hit among women across the country, with many raving about the impressive initiative. So, how do they work? Well, instead of using a pad or a tampon, the pants are lined with an absorbent padded gusset that soaks everything up like a sanitary product would. However unlike one time use products, the period pants can be washed and reused up to 50 times, meaning you’ll be cutting down on your plastic use in a major way. And if that wasn’t enough of an incentive, they’re also super affordable at just £10-£12 per pair. ‘Let’s be honest, we all have an embarrassing and awkward, but sometimes hilarious, leak story,’ the brand says. ‘Love Luna was created by a team of women who have 20+ years’ experience designing intimates, and share the common bond of a leak story, or two. This simple act of sharing their stories led them to decide enough was enough, it was time for a game changer.’ View this post on Instagram A post shared by Love Luna (@loveluna.uk) Customers have already started leaving positive reviews about their experiences, with one writing: ‘I have been a user of cloth pads for several years now and wanted some inexpensive period pants as back up. These are amazing. very comfortable, fantastic coverage, do not give wedgies, no digging in and hold up very well. I love them.’ The pants are available in sizes 8 to 22 and can now be shopped at Tu at Sainsbury’s.
