YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity The way the Queen tells people she doesn’ t agree with them is subtle but effective By You Magazine - December 4, 2019 It is no secret that the Queen is a busy woman. Over the years, she has met endless numbers of people, from members of the public to government officials and a whole host of celebrities. But after having so many encounters, it would be unnatural for her to have gotten a good impression from every single person she has crossed paths with. In other words, there are bound to be a few people she just didn’t see eye-to-eye with. But she’s also known for her impeccable manners – so how would they be able to tell? Getty Images Well, rumour has it Her Majesty has a subtle little way of making it known that she isn’t impressed by someone. Speaking to Fabulous, Karen Dolby, author of Queen Elizabeth II’s Guide to Life revealed just how, saying: ‘I think that she tends to avoid confrontation and she probably maintains a polite dignity whatever. I heard that she won’t necessarily openly disagree with someone.’ She continued: ‘But has a very specific way of saying “oh really” or “fascinating” or “thrilling”, and it’s all in the tone and intonation and the pause between saying it and the look she gives as to whether she actually agrees with you or not.’ Getty Images A 2018 YouGov survey revealed that 31 per cent of British people say they have seen or met the Queen, who is 93, in real life. That’s a lot of people, and it still doesn’t take into account all of the international meet and greets she has had to do over the years, so we can’t even begin to imagine the amount of faces the royal must have greeted throughout her reign. And if you ever have the pleasure of having a conversation with the Queen, you’ll now have a much better idea of what she actually thinks of you, according to Karen at least. So tread carefully.
