YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity Sophie Ellis-Bextor is hosting the ultimate Christmas event and you’ re invited By You Magazine - November 29, 2019 While the Christmas period is all about family, food and festive cheer, this time of year is also about giving back. No matter how small or big, December is the perfect time to think of those in need and help where you can and as always, there are endless initiatives to encourage people to do so. One of our many favourites this year is an upcoming event by non-profit organization mothers2mothers. Getty Images The charity, which aims to end AIDS and create bright futures for women and families across sub-Saharan Africa, is hosting a special Carols by Candlelight concert to raise money for their course. The festive evening will be held at St Paul’s Church in Knightsbridge, London on Monday 2 December and will feature a number of readings by celebrities led by mothers2mothers Patron Samantha Bond. However, most exciting of all, the charity has enlisted pop sensation Sophie Ellis-Bextor as one of their star readers on the night. In a statement, Sophie said: ‘What do I love about Christmas? It has to be the family time and getting to hear my favourite Christmas song, Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses. mothers2mothers ‘I am so excited for the mothers2mothers Carols by Candlelight because it’s such a beautiful event and will get me in the Christmas spirit, all for a good cause. I think the mothers2mothers model is pretty genius… empowering women affected by HIV to help other women lead healthier lives. And, it works!’ Sophie will be joined by Christian Brassington and Matt Barber who will also perform a reading, while guests will also be treated to a very beautiful performance by the London African Gospel Choir. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Christmas event without some festive food and drink so after the ceremony, guests will be treated to a warm glass of mulled wine and a mince pie, supplied by Zafferanos. It sounds like a lovely evening – and if you want to get involved? Tickets are priced at £25 each for adults, whilst students get £10 off and children get in for free. Book yours while you can.
