Dave J Hogan/Getty In a video posted on her personal Instagram page, Shirley said “Several of you thought they saw a lump under my arm and I went to get that checked.” She explained that having had hormone and blood tests, her doctor thought the levels were “not right”. “All in all a little concerning for my doctor” Shirley said, adding that she would need several scans and had made a hospital appointment for further investigation. Alongside the video she wrote a caption saying “To each and every one of you who started me on this road thank you so much. I’ll keep you all updated each and every one of you. Remember health is wealth so I’ll be on top of these issues for the time being. With gratitude to you all.” Shirley’s Strictly family were quick to express their support in the comments, with fellow judge Motsi Mabuse, presenter Tess Daly and contestants including John Whaite, Tilly Ramsay and Adam Peaty all sharing their positive wishes. Shirley has spoken openly in the past about her family’s history with breast cancer. In 2019, she made the decision to have her breast implants removed, due to concerns that they would make it harder to detect early signs of the disease. According to the BBC, Shirley will be back taking her seat as head judge for the Strictly Halloween special on Saturday. Last week’s contest saw Ugo Monye and Oti Mabuse exit the show, after coming up against Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu in the dance-off. However, Halloween will see the return of Loose Women star Judi Love, who was unable to take part last week after catching Covid-19.
