YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Life If you have these nine items in your kitchen you are officially middle class By You Magazine - June 28, 2019 While most people tend to design their home and pick the items in it based on personal style and preference, there are a few select things that can determine your class status, according to an etiquette expert. William Hanson, etiquette and protocol expert, has revealed the eight items all middle class people have in their kitchens so if you can tick them all of, consider yourself a firm member of the socioeconomic group – whether you like the label or not. Getty Images As Hanson explains to Cosmopolitan UK, there is something particularly telling about not only a household’s weekly food shop but the particular items they buy, and where they buy them. For example, if you’re the type to buy hollandaise sauce in a jar (yes, that’s a thing) and make the most of Aldi and Lidl’s Specialbuy sections, then you can count yourself a middle class citizen. And if you keep more mugs than cups and saucers in your kitchen, own a Nutribullet and a Nespresso machine on top of that, well then it’s safe to say that you’ve got a healthy income, suggests Hanson. From snazzy modern technology that our parents would never have heard of to designer handbags, the items on the list are indulgent to say the least. At the top of the list was the all important smart TV. This is owned by 42 per cent of middle class households, states Hanson. Though he did highlight that you’d have to own all of the items to be considered middle class.
