YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Travel This holiday booking mistake could be costing you upwards of £200 per trip By You Magazine - November 28, 2019 Going on holiday is one of the most exciting events in any given year – but let’s not pretend it’s not an expensive one. Between accommodation, food, transfers and excursions, you can rack up a pretty eye-watering bill, and that’s before you’ve even thought about flights. But now new research has revealed that you could accidentally be spending hundreds of pounds more just by making one single mistake with your booking: flying on a Saturday over any other day of the week. Getty Images The study, conducted by the experts at Holiday Hypermarket, compared the price of flying on Saturday against other weekend days, based on two people travelling on an all-inclusive holiday, staying at a four-star hotel. They found that destinations like Tenerife cost an average of £136pp more when flights were booked on a Saturday, while Sunday departures to Cyprus were £167pp cheaper than the day before. Further afield, Mexico holidays in January were found to be average £213pp pricier on Saturdays than Sundays, and in February this rose to £239pp. The only exception to the rule were Saturday flights to Barbados, which were cheaper by an average of £297pp for 14-night trips. It’s also worth noting that the review only took into account travel in January, February and March, but if you’re already thinking ahead to your 2020 break, it could be a valuable tip to take note of. Ian Crawford of Holiday Hypermarket explained of the findings: ‘We analysed holiday prices from all of the leading operators and it’s clear to see that if you can move your travel plans by just a few hours, couples and families can save hundreds of pounds on their holiday. Getty Images ‘The choice of hotels will usually change between departure days but travellers can still choose accommodation at the same grade, so they need to be flexible about where they stay to get the benefit of this hack,’ he added. ‘For many destinations, it’s clear that if you swap your Saturday flight you can save enough money for a room upgrade, posh meal or fancy excursion instead.’ RELATED ARTICLESMORE FROM AUTHOR Hotel review Wyndham Residences Costa Adeje National Trust is giving away free tickets this autumn Hotel review Una St Ives Cornwall DON' T MISS Fiona Bruce Sometimes I struggle not to cry November 14, 2021 17 beautiful 2021 diaries to help you to look forward to December 4, 2020 Why women leave men for women What’ s fuelling the rise of April 28, 2019 Hollywood veteran Laura Linney on plastic surgery friendship and her stellar July 3, 2017 You can shop the khaki jumpsuit from Holly Willoughby’ s new M& S July 17, 2019 The secrets and lies behind this happy family photo April 11, 2021 It’ s cocktail hour Olly Smith’ s cocktail recipes and Eleanor Maidment s canapé November 14, 2021 BBC One has revealed its Christmas TV schedule and there’ s lots December 2, 2020 YOU Beauty Box August Reviews August 1, 2017 Rome has been named the cheapest major city to visit in August 7, 2019 Popular CategoriesFood2704Life2496Fashion2240Beauty1738Celebrity1261Interiors684 Sign up for YOUMail Thanks for subscribing Please check your email to confirm (If you don't see the email, check the spam box) Fashion Beauty Celebrity Life Food Privacy & Cookies T&C Copyright 2022 - YOU Magazine.
