YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Food These UK chain restaurants are extending the Eat Out to Help Out discount for September By You Magazine - September 1, 2020 The government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme has been even more successful than anyone could have predicted. Restaurants all over the country have been able to offer diners 50 per cent off their total food and drink bill (up to the value of £10 per diner) every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the whole month of August at no cost to themselves, resulting in a huge wave of people eating out at restaurants, pubs and cafes and making up for the lack of business during lockdown. Getty Images According to the BBC, diners used the scheme more than 64 million times in its first three weeks, which is equivalent to nearly every person in the country dining out. And restaurant booking website OpenTable reported the number of customers dining at UK restaurants between Monday to Wednesday during one particular week of August was 61 per cent higher compared to last year. Now August is over, it’s no wonder that both restaurants and customers are going to heavily miss the discount, which made Monday – Wednesday the new weekend. In response, some restaurants and pubs are deciding to extend the 50 per cent offer throughout September and simply footing the discount themselves. It’s a smart move for those businesses that can afford it, especially as we head into autumn when darker, colder nights can make us think twice about heading out for a meal. Getty Images We’ve rounded up the nationwide UK chain restaurants who are continuing to offer the Eat Out to Help Out discount below.
