Olay’s Retinol24 Max includes a night cream, night serum, and eye cream, all of which contain 20 per cent more retinol as their original Retinol24 formulas do, which were launched in early 2020. For this reason, these are products best suited to those of us who already have experience with retinol in our routines, or who have been using Olay’s first range for a while now. Olay Regenerist Retinol24 MAX Night Skin Cream Without Fragrance, £39.99, Boots The key to retinol is starting slowly; it’s a powerful ingredient, meaning that skin can become reactive if it’s introduced too quickly or at too much of a high percentage. The new products in Olay’s Retinol24 Max — much like the originals — contain a blend of retinol and retinyl propionate, which Olay apparently calls the ‘Batman and Robin’ of retinoids, because they work so seamlessly in tandem. These include glycerin, which is a humectant that helps the skin to keep moisture in, as well as trending ingredient niacinamide, which is excellent at targeting any potential redness caused by retinol use.
