YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity The Queen s favourite festive film is not your average Christmas pick By You Magazine - December 20, 2021 This time of year sees the return of a set number of classic films we rely on every year to bring us that festive joy. Maybe for you it’s all about Love Actually, with all its many romantic, super sweet plot lines. Or perhaps, you’re more of a The Holiday person, whether you wish you lived in the cosy Cotswolds cottage or that huge mansion in LA. Whether it’s one of those or another classic such as Elf, It’s A Wonderful Life, or the Home Alone franchise, everyone has a favourite. Including, apparently, the Queen… Getty Images A source has revealed that even HRH Queen Elizabeth has a go-to Christmas movie, making her more relatable than ever before. However, her choice isn’t exactly conventional, nor is it a film many of us will associate with the December holiday we all love so dearly. Apparently, the Queen’s favourite film this time of year is 1980s sci-fi film Flash Gordon, which she usually sits down to watch with her grandchildren in December to get into the Christmas mood. So how do we know this rather niche information? Well, star of the film Brian Blessed revealed the news during an interview with Edith Bowman on Yahoo! Movies. Getty Images ‘The Queen, [Flash Gordon‘s] her favourite film, she watches it with her grandchildren every Christmas,’ he explained, much to the surprise of Edith and fans. Brian even went on to impersonate the Queen, saying: ‘You know, we watch Flash Gordon all the time, me and the grandchildren. And if you don’t mind, I’ve got the grandchildren here, would you mind saying ‘Gordon’s alive’?’ While we can all rest now we know which movie HRH enjoys during the festive season, the bad news is she may not be able to share it with her grandchildren this year, as is tradition. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Queen will be staying in Windsor for Christmas Day. It is so far unclear which members of her family she will see on the day. Either way, we know what’ll be on TV in the royal household… RELATED ARTICLESMORE FROM AUTHOR 50 of the best celebrity Halloween costumes of all time Shirley Ballas ‘ Strictly gave me back my hope’ Davina McCall discusses how men can help women going through the menopause Popular in Celebrity TV chef Gino D Acampo on Sardinia Sophia Loren and scary salads May 25, 2017 The Evergreen Goddess Exercise guru Diana Moran on looking fit and July 10, 2017 More more Julianne Moore November 13, 2017 Author Jill Mansell on designer notebooks commissioning art and the family January 16, 2018 EMOTIONAL TIES Kelly Hoppen on vodka vintage finds and being a April 4, 2018 ‘ I have no regrets’ Millie Mackintosh on divorce debt and reuniting May 20, 2018 EMOTIONAL TIES TV presenter and tennis player Annabel Croft shares her July 1, 2018 Stella Parton ‘ Dolly and I have always been close’ August 12, 2018 Anna Friel on getting jeered in the street shared parenting with September 23, 2018 Queen of primetime Charlotte Riley on juggling rising stardom with pregnancy October 21, 2018 Popular CategoriesFood2704Life2496Fashion2240Beauty1738Celebrity1261Interiors684 Sign up for YOUMail Thanks for subscribing Please check your email to confirm (If you don't see the email, check the spam box) Fashion Beauty Celebrity Life Food Privacy & Cookies T&C Copyright 2022 - YOU Magazine.
