Look no further than the best supermarket Valentine’s meal deals on the shelves, which offer you a three-course meal and wine, chocolates or non-alcoholic alternatives for an impressively low price. We’re talking prosecco, steak, triple cooked chips and chocolate hearts, all for £20 or less. To whet your appetite ahead of the big day, here are the top offers on the shelves for 2020: Co-op Co-op What’s the deal? One main and two sides, or one side and a dessert (the choice is yours) for £6. It’s purse-friendly, but there’s no wine or chocs included. What’s on the menu? Steaks or lasagne al forno, accompanied by skinny fries, baby potatoes or a veg selection with carrots, cauliflower and broccoli. For veggies or vegans? Macaroni cheese is the veggie main on offer, but there’s not a vegan dish on the list. And dessert? A twin pack of chocolate melting middle pudding pots. Available from: 12-18 February. Aldi Aldi What’s the deal? Aldi is proudly touting its 2020 deal as the ‘cheapest Valentine’s meal deal in the UK.’ It’s offering a starter, main, side, and pudding in the deal, with the cheapest combination coming it at just under £10. You can add a bottle of prosecco for £4.99. What’s on the menu? You’ll have a choice of two starters, five mains, two sides, and three desserts. Highlights include the sharing bread with Camembert, salmon fillets with heart-shaped butter, British beef wellington and ‘chicken love’ nuggests. For veggies or vegans? The supermarket hasn’t announced they are doing anything specifically for vegans, but some of their options are vegetarian-friendly. And dessert? Mini heart-shaped pancakes, profiteroles, and melt-in-the-middle puddings. Available from: 11 February – but once they’re gone, they’re gone! Morrisons Morrisons What’s the deal? A starter, a main, a side to share, a dessert and a bottle of wine (or a soft drink, or chocolates) for £15. What’s on the menu? Highlights include tear and share bread with French Camembert, chorizo and cheddar stuffed mushrooms, prosciutto-wrapped chicken breast with prosecco sauce, salmon with red pesto butter and sirloin steak with pink peppercorn butter. For veggies? Roasted aubergine stack to start, celeriac steaks with portobello mushroom sauce for the main. And dessert? Strawberry and champagne profiteroles, vegan chocolate melt in the middles, dulce de leche cheesecake or raspberry panna cotta. Available from: 10-16 February Marks & Spencer Marks & Spencer What’s the deal? £20 for a starter, main, side, dessert, box of chocolates and a bottle of prosecco, wine, mojito or soft drinks for two. What’s on the menu? Highlights include garlic prawn love hearts, rump or sirloin steaks, duck breasts with plum sauce, salmon en croute or rack of lamb with honey and mustard crumb. For veggies? Leek and cheese soufflé tarts, breaded Camembert, sweet potato falafels, butternut and red onion en croute. And dessert? Pink gin panna cotta, nuts about you cheesecake, profiterole stack, taste au citron slices or strawberries in a heart-shaped punnet. Available from: 10-14 February Asda Asda What’s the deal? A starter, main, 2 sides, dessert and drink (alcoholic or otherwise) for £15. What’s on the menu? Highlights include chorizo mac and cheese, pork in apple sauce, lamb shank, beef wellington and steak with garlic butter. For veggies or vegans? Vegan roast pepper bites, followed by risotto, and on the side, chips, pea crush or vegetable medley. And dessert? Vegan salted caramel and dark chocolate hearts, brownie domes, lemon and raspberry cheesecake or mango pots. Available from: 6-16 February Tesco What’s the deal? A sharing starter, two mains, a side, a dessert, and a half bottle of champagne, full bottle of wine or prosecco, or non-alcoholic alternative for £20. What’s on the menu? Highlights include lamb shank, chicken kiev with black garlic, lobster mac and cheese and beef wellington. For veggies or vegans? For the first time, dishes from the vegan Wicked Kitchen range, including king mushroom ‘scallops’ with chilli and lime noodles. And dessert? Vegan chocolate brownie, white chocolate and raspberry pots, raspberry and passionfruit cheesecake slices or millionaire’s tarts. Available from: 12-16 February Waitrose Waitrose What’s the deal? Waitrose’s deal includes 1 starter, 1 main, 2 sides, 1 dessert, and 1 wine or selection of chocolate, and costs £20. What’s on the menu? Plenty. There are lots of options to choose from in all categories. Some of our favourites include the New Zealand lamb leg steaks with red wine and balsamic sauce, seabream with lemon & chervil butter, and beef dripping chips. For veggies or vegans? Start with the vegan courgette and pea risotto, followed by the vegan beet Wellington with seasoned Charlotte potatoes on the side. Finish with the cookies and cream vegan cheesecake. And dessert? This is where the menu really comes into its own. There are 11 puddings to choose from, and 9 options for wine or chocolates. Our dessert highlights include the chocolate and salted caramel profiteroles, strawberry and cream heart-shaped desserts, and passionfruit and coconut torte.
