A rug is a great way to completely transform a room. Not only do they bring warmth to a non-carpeted room but they soften the look too; they’re also a great way to add a splash of colour without having to get the paint pots out and completely redecorate or, depending on what style you choose, they can even add a sense of luxury. If you browse some of the big homeware retailers though, you may find that good quality, stylish rugs – and especially large, room-filling ones – can cost an eye-watering price. That is, of course, until you take a peruse at Aldi’s homeware section. Yep, the supermarket and its Specialbuys department have done it again with three fantastic Aldi rugs that ooze very similar vibes to those sold by French online retailer La Redoute. First up is a contemporary style white patterned rug. Available in two sizes – 120 x 170cm and 160 x 230cm – it has a rather similar look to La Redoute’s Berber-style rug (below). La Redoute’s comes in the same dimensions (plus one more even bigger size), meaning that Aldi’s larger rug is £130 cheaper than its La Redoute counterpart. Aldi White Pattern Large Contemporary Rug, £44.99, Aldi La Redoute Afaw Berber-Style Rug, £122.50 (was £175), La Redoute Aldi has also just released a black and white criss-cross design that is also strikingly similar to La Redoute’s Berber-Style Rug but almost half price. Kirkton House Sherpa Rug, £49.99, Aldi Jiraya Berber-Style Rug, £95, La Redoute Next up is this grey diamond style – available in the same two sizes as before, Aldi’s version has a bolder, more graphic quality but still has a very similar look to La Redoute’s (below). Aldi Grey Large Contemporary Rug, £44.99, Aldi La Redoute Rabisco Berber Style Rug (120x170cm), £61.75 (was £95), La Redoute The last of the Aldi rugs is this blue and white patterned one which looks not too dissimilar from the below rug from La Redoute. The pattern and colourway lend both rugs a Mediterranean vibe, but when Aldi’s costs £70 less, we know which one we’ll be opting for when on a budget.
