YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Food The nation’ s favourite cocktail has been revealed By You Magazine - July 8, 2021 When restaurants and bars opened up again post-lockdown, we were desperate to get our hands on a professionally made cocktail. Our homemade ‘throw it all together and hope for the best’ mixtures weren’t quite hitting the spot. But which drinks actually get ordered the most? Just Eat for Business conducted research into the UK’s most popular cocktails to find out. Looking at the UK’s most popular recipe site and comparing the highest average rating to the number of reviews left, Just Eat for Business found that Espresso Martinis took the top spot as the most popular cocktail among Brits. The caffeine-filled drink typically contains vodka, espresso coffee, coffee liqueur, sugar syrup or vanilla syrup, and the all-important three coffee beans on top to garnish. Shutterstock Other classic cocktails like the Mojito, Pina Colada and Sex on the Beach followed behind. UK summers are always a bit unpredictable, so it’s no surprise to see the nation loves a fruity cocktail to make us feel like we’re on holiday. Mojitos tend to have a more low-key flavour, containing just white rum, mint, lime and sugar. Pina Coladas, on the other hand, are definitely for sweet-toothed cocktail drinkers as they are made up of pineapple juice, coconut cream and white rum. Shutterstock The study also revealed vodka is the most popular spirit, followed by rum and gin. Citrus fruits like lemons, limes and oranges were the favourite fruit accompaniment in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. For those who don’t drink alcohol, a Virgin Mojito was deemed the most popular mocktail. On the other end of the cocktail scale sits Black Russians, Cuba Libres and Bloody Marys, which had the lowest rankings. London-based mixologist Harp Mann commented on the findings: ‘Cocktails have seen a great resurgence since the dark days of the 80s where sweetened watered down drinks were bedecked with umbrellas. ‘Cocktails offer theatre, a treat, opulence, fun, good times – essentially an experience – so there’s the social element of them. Mixed drinks offer a great way to experience new flavours, spirits and aperitifs, more premium or better quality ingredients too.’ The most popular cocktails in the UK Just Eat for Business READ MORE: Cocktail delivery services bringing happy hour to your home RELATED ARTICLESMORE FROM AUTHOR Kids can eat for free at these restaurants during October half-term How to make the viral negroni sbagliato with prosecco at home 7 Halloween recipes with serious hex factor Popular in Food Gabriela Peacock 14-day plan Anytime baked eggs May 23, 2021 Joe Wicks’ maple-glazed chicken thighs with Asian slaw June 6, 2021 Mary Berry is returning to TV screens for a brand new June 15, 2021 Eleanor Maidment My summer taste notes July 4, 2021 Uyen Luu’ s sticky mustard marmalade ribs July 25, 2021 Annie Bell’ s white peach bellinis recipe August 8, 2021 M& S has launched a new crunchy Caramilk-inspired golden chocolate spread August 24, 2021 Deliciously preserved pickle and jam recipes September 19, 2021 Gordon Ramsay’ s bang bang cauliflower October 3, 2021 Wow right now Clodagh McKenna’ s speedy family dinners October 24, 2021 Popular CategoriesFood2704Life2496Fashion2240Beauty1738Celebrity1261Interiors684 Sign up for YOUMail Thanks for subscribing Please check your email to confirm (If you don't see the email, check the spam box) Fashion Beauty Celebrity Life Food Privacy & Cookies T&C Copyright 2022 - YOU Magazine.
