Getty Images Overall, And Just Like That… received mixed, although predominantly positive, reviews from the press and viewers alike. But when it was confirmed that Kim Cattrall wouldn’t be reprising her role as the sex-positive Samantha Jones, the hearts of SATC fans collectively broke. It was always an unlikely return, seeing as she had already turned down the offer to return for a third Sex and the City movie and quite publicly made her feelings of ever reprising the role abundantly clear. However, Kim has stayed quiet about her exact opinions on And Just Like That… until now. In an interview with Variety, Kim said: ‘The series is basically the third movie. That’s how creative it was.’ ‘I was never asked to be part of the reboot. I made my feelings clear after the possible third movie, so I found out about it like everyone else did — on social media.’ View this post on Instagram A post shared by Variety (@variety) She says that the reason for opting out of that potential third movie was due to the plot line, which would have seen Samantha receiving unwanted ‘dick pics’ from Brady, Miranda’s 14-year-old son – a storyline she described as ‘heartbreaking’. When asked what storyline she would have liked to see for Samantha, Kim responded: ‘Why can’t Samantha, who owns her PR company — maybe she had to sell it because of financial woes? 2008 was tough. Some people are still recovering. She had to sell it to some guy who’s wearing a hoodie, and that’s the dilemma she has. I mean that’s a scenario that was kind of off the top of one of my reps’ heads, and I thought that’s a great idea. That’s a conflict. Instead of an underage boy’s…’ Getty Images Admitting that she hasn’t watched any of And Just Like That…, she said that it felt ‘odd’ that Samantha was still referenced in storylines in the series and that it ‘feels different than the Samantha that I played.’ Ultimately though, she sees it as an honour that fans are missing the character and said it was a ‘really wonderful feeling’ that they wanted more of her. ‘That feels powerful, that I’ve left something behind that I’m so proud of. I loved her.
