YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity Could an It’ s A Sin sequel be in the works By Georgia Green - April 28, 2022 When Russell T. Davies’ It’s A Sin aired on Channel 4 last year, it immediately became essential viewing, depicting life for gay men during the 1980s’ Aids/HIV pandemic. While the creator and writer has previously ruled out a season two of the series, it turns out he does have an idea for another series that would feature a return of some of the main characters of It’s A Sin. Channel 4 Speaking at a Bafta Television session, It’s A Sin executive producer Nicola Shindler made remarks that heavily hinted at a new series that would see the return of Jill (Lydia West) and Roscoe (Omari Douglas). ‘There was a time when there were a lot of stories in the press about young boys being manipulated online to masturbate,’ Nicola told Metro. ‘They were being filmed and then they were being blackmailed, essentially. ‘It was young teenage boys and it was something that Russell [T Davies] was really concerned about. ‘It sounds like it’s not related at all, except that he thought: “What if you cut to the present day, and what if Jill and Roscoe are going out there, trying to stop the people who are doing this?” Channel 4 Speaking of how this It’s A Sin sequel would relate to the original series, she said: ‘It’s about looking after the boys, really, because originally [It’s A Sin] was called The Boys.’ She went on to explain: ‘He just wanted to pick up on that idea that one problem might have gone away, but there are still so many vulnerable people out there who need looking after, or who need some kind of attention shining on them.’ Channel 4 Worrying that she’d shared too much, Nicola added: ‘He never wrote any of it – it was a small idea, I don’t know if he’ll be cross that I’ve told people what the idea is.’ ‘He just wanted to pick it up in the present day and say, “Look, there are still so many people out there who need some kind of protection.” That was the point of it.’ If an It’s A Sin sequel does happen, it sounds like it’s quite a way off from appearing on our TV screens any time soon, but we’ll happily wait and look forward to anything created by the inimitable Russell T. Davies.
