YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity The trailer for Whitney Houston biopic I Wanna Dance With Somebody has been released By Sophie Hines - September 16, 2022 It’s hard to believe it’s over a decade since Whitney Houston died, but since then, her iconic status has never faded. Now, the legendary singer is to be a subject of Hollywood biopic, with the script written by Anthony McCarten, the man behind Bohemian Rhapsody. The film is named after one of Whitney’s most famous songs: I Wanna Dance With Somebody. The trailer has just been released, and has already garnered over a million views, with anticipation for the movie clearly high already. In the trailer, we see a young Whitney as her extraordinary talent is first discovered by an agent. It goes on to chart her successful rise, as we see Whitney celebrate hearing her songs on the radio and eventually performing Star Spandled Banner at the 1991 Super Bowl. A voiceover in the trailer states Houston’s sole goal: ‘My dream is to sing what I wanna sing and be how I wanna be. Reach as big an audience as I can.’ However, it also explores the darker side of Whitney’s life, which ended when she tragically drowned in the bath aged just 48. Sony Pictures describes the film, which comes out in December, as a ‘no-holds-barred portrait of the complex and multifaceted woman behind The Voice.’ I Wanna Dance With Somebody stars Naomi Ackie as Houston and Stanley Tucci as music producer Clive Davis. The biopic is being released exclusively to cinemas on December 21, 2022.
