YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Travel What to do in Belgravia London By Georgia Green - August 26, 2022 You can easily spend a day in Belgravia, London’s hidden gem, this summer. If you’ve forgone foreign travel this summer, you can still create a mini holiday right here in the UK. And if the seaside and countryside trips are feeling a bit done, try a city break in London, instead. But forget the busy tourist traps, instead head to Belgravia, a unique destination in the middle of London where you can shop, eat and socialise in a truly distinguished setting. Belgravia Despite being situated right in the heart of the city, there’s space to breathe here in Belgravia, making it the perfect place to spend 24 hours. Whether you’re visiting London for a holiday and fancy a quieter day off the beaten track, are heading to the capital for a long weekend and wondering where to base yourself, or you live close to or in the city and want to explore a new area, Belgravia is the place to go. Belgravia What to do A five minute stroll from Victoria and Sloane Square stations, the Belgravia area is comprised of four main streets: Elizabeth Street, Motcomb Street, Eccleston Yards and Pimlico Road. The vibe is contemporary and elegant yet playful, with each of these streets lined with an eclectic mix of independent and local retailers, eateries and bars, which makes the place buzz with creativity and craftsmanship. Jo Loves We started our day at the Jo Loves store (the fragrance brand from Jo Malone) on Elizabeth Street to experience the brand’s Fragrance Tapas session, which gives customers a chance to discover the full range of delicious scents on offer in a novel and informative way. We also stopped by Rachel Vosper, the candle chandler based on Kinnerton Street. As well as selling her own pre-made candles (in utterly divine scents), Rachel also offers a bespoke refill service where you can take in any vessel of your choosing, be it an old pen pot or a family heirloom, and her team will fill it with candle wax. But the best way to spend an afternoon is by joining in a candle making session, where the lovely team will teach you all you need to know to walk away with your very own homemade candle. Rachel Vosper There are plenty of other shops to roam and browse in the area also. Mungo & Maud is the chicest pet accessories shop; Egg is a boutique with distinct, voluminous fashion; Aesthetics Lab is a multi-award winning skin clinic providing ethical and personalised skin and body treatments; and currently there are pop-ups by rental fashion platform By Rotation and independent wine brand Amie. Belgravia restaurants Belgravia really comes to life in the summer, with plenty of open-air wining and dining spots to choose from. Peggy Porschen It goes without saying that no day in Belgravia is complete without a stop at Peggy Porschen, the Instagram-famous bakery. A pink, floral explosion on the corner of Ebury Street, sit inside or on the street and indulge in one of their fantastical cupcakes, or do as we did and feast on the afternoon tea. All the classic components are there – finger sandwiches, warm scones and petit fours – and at £50 a head you definitely get value for money. Peggy Porschen For a pre-dinner aperitif, head up to the roof garden of Pantechnicon, the Japanese and Nordic restaurant and bar. Situated on Motcomb Street, the botanical filled space is the ideal place to rest your feet, rehydrate and have a snack or two while the sun sets. I can recommend the Norsk 75 for sipping and the lamb croquettes with carrot mayonnaise to nibble on. Pantechnicon For dinner, head next door to Mina’s. Mediterranean sharing plates are the name of the game here, and we enjoyed dunking warm flatbreads into a smoky aubergine dip, chomping on the crispiest courgette fries, devouring nduja meatballs and feasting on a plate of truffle pappardelle. Mina’s Best for A relaxed and unique day or weekend in the city.
