YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Travel Hotel review Shangri-La Hotel Qaryat al Beri Abu Dhabi By Sophie Hines - April 21, 2022 Get the classic Shangri-La luxury with added Arab charm. Dubai might be the Arab emirate best known to tourists, but Abu Dhabi is hot on its heels, with an expanding list of cultural attractions and some truly wonderful hotels. Case in point, the Shangri-La Qaryat al Beri, which provides a luxurious haven from the Abu Dhabi heat and excellent views across the ever-evolving urban landscape. Shangri-La Qaryat al Beri hotel review Rooms and facilities Opulent is the only word to describe bedrooms at this hotel – the vast bed, sumptuous furniture and massive marble bathroom have the feel of an Arabic palace. Each of the 214 rooms has its own balcony or terrace; ideally you want one with views of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque on the opposite side of the river. In terms of facilities, there’s a lot on offer, including an outdoor pool, private beach, gym, spa and purpose-built waterway where you can travel on a traditional abra (wooden boat), which is basically Instagram gold. A slight downside was the noise levels on certain nights – this is easily rectified if you remember to pack ear plugs though. Food and drink Rest assured – you will not go hungry at Shangri-La. Choose between Vietnamese cuisine at Hoi An, delicious Chinese fare at Shang Palace or an extremely wide-ranging international buffet at Sofra Blvd. There’s also more laidback dining available at the Pool Bar. The Al Hanah bar is also not to be missed – head there in the evening for cocktails with a glorious view of the sunset. Hotel highlights The outdoor pool is a definite highlight here, jutting out as it does towards the river and providing panoramic views from your sun lounger. The private beach is another calming spot, and the perfect place to unwind after a busy day sightseeing. What to do nearby Abu Dhabi is ambitious in its tourism plans, as is evident through the level of investment in creating new, visitor-friendly attractions. An enormous complex near to the hotel will offer shops, restaurants and place to visit, including the national aquarium, which has just opened. There are several new museums on the card, but the Louvre Abu Dhabi has already opened, and is well worth a visit. For a truly mind-blowing experience, visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque – the level of workmanship, not to mention expense, which has gone into this building is mind-boggling. Best for An ideal spot for a romantic break or some winter sun. Rooms from £100 per night, for more information visit the website. Fly with Etihad Airways from £418 for a return from London to Abu Dhabi.
