YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity Kate Winslet to star in new Channel 4 drama opposite her daughter By Anya Meyerowitz - April 13, 2022 Our love affair with Kate Winslet started with Titanic (when she played protagonist Rose) and most recently in Mare of Easttown, but the actor has excelled in all sorts of roles inbetween. Getty Images And if you were wondering where you might get your next fix of the award-winning national treasure then you will be pleased to hear that the star is set to feature alongside her daughter, Mia Threapleton, in an upcoming Channel 4 drama. The actor will lead an instalment of Dominic Savage’s I Am anthology, starring alongside her daughter Mia in I Am Ruth. The critically-acclaimed and female-led series aired its first trio of episodes in 2019, with Line of Duty‘s Vicky McClure, Samantha Morton and Gemma Chan each anchoring a story. I Am later returned for a second season with Suranne Jones, Letitia Wright and Lesley Manville in the spotlight, and now it’s Kate’s turn to take on a role. The series, created and directed by Dominic Savage, is semi-improvised, with the cast of each episode working with writers to develop the story. I Am explores the experience of women in moments that are ’emotionally raw, thought-provoking, and personal.’ Getty Images ‘I have always admired Dominic’s work and, in particular, his commitment to telling real stories,’ Winslet said in a statement. ‘British television is at an all-time high, and I feel excited and honoured to be part of this community, especially right now.’ Dominic Savage is equally thrilled about the next chapter of I Am, admitting that it is ‘a complete honour’ to be collaborating with Kate Winslet. ‘Kate is such a legend, such an incredible and sublime acting talent, and I can’t wait to start shooting this unique and important story that we have created together,’ he said. We don’t have a release date confirmed for you as of yet, but keep your eyes peeled. And, in the meantime, there’s always the second season of Bridgerton to rewatch, right?
