So whether you’re heading off to Notting Hill Carnival or have your own party plans for the weekend, one thing is for sure – you’re probably going to want a tipple or two. Luckily, supermarket booze hero Lidl has launched the perfect drink to enjoy the heatwave in style. Say hello to their new ombre rosé wine range. Getty Images Not only do the wines look (and taste) delicious, but with prices starting at just £3.99 it’s an offer thats impossible to refuse. The refreshing range includes rosés which are both dark and dry, contrary to the misconception that pale styles reign supreme. So customers can take their pick from the palest pastel pink to vibrant cerise coloured wine. And what better time to do so than during the bank holiday? Get creative by making your own frosés with the affordable wines or simply pour yourself a glass of Pinot Grigio Blush straight from the bottle. Either way, you won’t regret your purchase. The range features six wines: Rosata Toscana (£5.99), Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie – Blush (£4.29 and £4.50 in Scotland), Kamocsay Ákos Pinot Noir Rosé (£5.99), Cepa Lebrel Rioja Rosado DOCa (£5.49), Mezquiriz Navarra Rosé (£3.99 and £4.88 in Scotland) and last but not least, Australian Shiraz Rosé (£4.49 and £4.99 in Scotland). All of the wines are available to purchase in Lidl stores across the country. Rosé wine, from £3.99, Lidl Commenting on the launches, Richard Bampfield, Master of Wine for Lidl said: ‘Pale rosé is enjoying its moment but darker shades can offer the best of both worlds with the flavour complexities of a red wine along with the freshness of a chilled white. Championing rosé from across the world, Lidl’s new wine collection showcases quality wines from Spain to Australia at fantastic value for money.’ Richard also provided some useful advice for shoppers when looking for the perfect bottle. Firstly, he urges you not to be fooled by the colour when buying a rosé – many deeper coloured rosés are dry and have lots to offer. Additionally, he points out that rosé from Spain, known as Rosado, is a great value choice if you’re looking for a pretty pink rosé that is dry. And finally (though you may already know this one) he reminds us that rosé is best served chilled, so if it’s not cold enough, add a couple of ice cubes and you’re good to go.
