If you agree, then you’ll be over the moon to hear that high street favourite Marks & Spencer has launched a dupe of the breathtaking diamond encrusted sapphire ring. Getty Images The new budget version is, of course, not surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds and set in 18-carat white gold like the £300,000 ring the Duchess of Cambridge was given by her husband Prince William when they got engaged on 20 October 2010. Kate’s ring was famously first given to her late mother-in-law, Diana, for her engagement to Prince Charles. Since then, the precious jewel has become one of the most prestigious pieces of jewellery in the world and before popping the question to Kate, Prince William was responsible for the family heirloom created by Garrard & Co back in 1981. Getty Images While it’s not an exact replica of the time-honoured band, the M&S version does boast some impressive similarities. For starters, it has a beautiful blue gem in the centre and is surrounded by lovely looking faux diamonds. Instead of real gold, it’s made of platinum plating – though it is very convincing. In fact, the two rings look close enough to identical when side by side. But unlike the royal jewel, Marks & Spencer’s version will only set you back £19.50, meaning it’s accessible enough to wear as costume jewellery on a fancy night out. Hurrah! The ring, which comes in sizes small, medium and large, is currently available in stores but has limited stock online. Move fast if you want it on your finger, as it is bound to sell out soon!
